Overall we were really impressed by the Big Pines Mountain House. - Walking distance to heavenly village (full of shops, restaurants, and a movie theater) - Nice decor - Comfortable bed - Friendly staff - Very clean - Tasty pastries in the morning But what killed this review was the noise. We could hear EVERYTHING next door, outside you name... more

After being rained out on our Memorial day camping trip we decided to head into Tahoe for our last night of vacation. Our requirements…an inexpensive and clean place near the casinos. We found that and more at Big Pines. The casinos are just a short, maybe 2 blocks, walk away. (This hotel is located behind where the old Holiday Lodge... more

We stayed at this property for 2 nights with my 2 yr old son in the last week of March after Easter Sunday. We had a really pleasant stay. Our room was clean with decent furnishings. Starbucks coffee in the room was added bonus. Bathroom had a standup shower - no tub. The breakfast was served in the lobby and... more

We stayed here for a week on a snowboarding holiday. The room was very clean and comfortable, the staff were all friendly and helpful, and the location is excellent. Less than five minutes walk from the Heavenly gondola and the free shuttle for Sierra at Tahoe picks up from right outside the motel. It's also handy for shops and restaurants... more

We went to South Lake Tahoe for a wedding and booked here for one night. We didn't want stay at an expensive hotel because we knew were just going up for the night and heading home the next morning. We checked out this hotel's website and it looked decent enough...though I think the cost is a little high for the... more

After reading the reviews here, I contacted the Motel. First sign of bad things, they insisted on immediately charging the full amount for the only night we were going to stay there. I should have known better: Never pay full charge in advance! When we arrived, there was a bus tour group. VERY LOUD people walking, screaming, etc. all over... more

I agree with some of the other reviews, its in a good location between the beach and the main street. Its clean and simple BUT I dont expect to have to lock up my cosmetics in my room!!!!! There are soooooo many hotels all the same, all next to each other its not worth the risk. We stayed 2 nights... more

I stayed here because of other reccommendations on this site and I absolutely loved it! Very friendly staff and great late night check-in system. If I ever visit Tahoe again I will definitely go back to the same place. more

If you're looking for a motel that is clean and in a great location (about 400 yards to Harvey's Casino) then the Big Pines Mountain House is a great place to stay. We stayed in August for 4 nights and wanted to save some cash by staying somewhere relatively inexpensive. We paid an average of $100 a night and there... more
