Some will call it cosy, but for me it was just a very small room, decorated in the worst possible taste, with a shower added in for good measure, and no way not to get the whole place soaked with steam and splashes. It was winter and the hotel was freezing cold, damp if you are on the ground floor... more

Stayed in the standard at a reduced rate, so £90 a night. The hotel furnishings were not to my taste, but you can live with that. The bed was too small for 2 people though, more like a queensize in quite a small room. I did expect more. I think there would appear more space if the excessive decor and... more

I booked since had very low rate (55 pd/nt, 3 nights), high ratings, and 2 minute away from my daughter's room on Panton street and the University; my room was (I gather) the smallest single at Lensfield, by my reckoning 6' by 11 (including tiny bath, shower). Truly, the most compact room I have ever stayed in (although I imagine... more

Good enough location, 5-10 minute walk to market square, but had expected a far classier hotel from looking at the website. Would give it a 2-star rating - definitely over-priced and not worth the money. Strange/dated/kitsch/unpleasant decor and furnishings. Basement room with no natural daylight, missing lightbulb, sidelamps that fill the room with a nasty fish odour once they've been... more

Great location in quiet neighbourhood approx 10 - 15mins walk from City centre and 15 mins from railway station. Hotel quiet, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Staff friendly, welcoming and efficient. Paid £99/night for a standard double - where on earth do TripAdvisor get their average prices from???? more

A very pleasant hotel. Ideally located close to the centre of Cambridge. I was there for a course at the Addenbrookes Hospital - about half an hour on the bus. 5-10 minute walk to the bars, restaurants and shops in Cambridge. I thought that £65/night for a small single room sounded pretty steep, but the prices in Cambridge are generally... more

I can agree with the comments that this hotel is clean and tidy and that it is in a pretty good location. Very easy to rail station (about 20 mins slow walk) and town centre (about 10 mins). They've obviously redecorated the rooms and the one we had was nice and quiet. But...the shower was impossible for me to turn... more

My colleague and I stayed here by chance as other hotels we know were fully booked. The Lensfield turned out to be a pleasant surprise. We found the rooms cosy and immaculately clean , reception staff were helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was first class - fresh and appetising with cheerful waiting staff. We have previously stayed at The Gonville and... more

We enjoyed a two night stay at this lovely cozy Hotel in JULY. The location is great - just perfect. The staff friendly and attentive. The size of the room would probably be an issue with most Americans as I would think they are used to larger room sizes, but as this is a row of converted houses , not... more

I stayed at the Lensfield as I had a conference on the Cambridge campus. The hotel is a bit out of the way-- I walked 30 minutes to the conference college, but it is only about a 15 minute walk from the city center and some other Cambridge colleges. I had traveled from Scotland, so I arrived very late and... more
