Given a room on the first floor which was no more than a large wardrobe, just had enough room to walk around the bed. To use the the toilet you had to sit at 45 degrees which is ok if you are only 5 foot tall! The restaurant is ok, the food was well presented and well overpriced...The staff were... more

Used the Grapevine as a base for a walking weekend for a group of girlfriends. The hotel is in a good location in the centre of Stow, close to the shops, pubs, restaurants. Our twin room was a good size, comfortable and clean and nicely decorated in old fashioned style. I was in the main old building, some of the group... more

Having been to Stow in the past I was aware of the problem with the church bells at night and therefore chose the Grapevine, close but not that close. I suspect I would have been happier with the BELLS !!! Whilst my wife and I had ann "Executive" room, I suspect that if I had had to work in it... more

Overall, we had a really good stay at this hotel. The food in the restaurant was excellent- we really enjoyed all of our evening meals and the staff were attentive and friendly. Breakfast was fantastic. We can't remember a cooked breakfast more nicely done. However....we booked Room 11because it looked so attractive in the picture on the hotel website. What... more

Charming hotel, lovely rooms and restaurant breakfast, plenty of off-street parking. But we could not get the heating to work in our room and the shower took at least 10 minutes to heat up. more

My wife and I stayed here for the 3 night Christmas package with 2 friends and had a wonderful time. All the staff were friendly and the food was excellent throughout. Everything was obviously freshly cooked and there was no problem with special requests. Our room (room 1) was quite small but very comfortable, it had a well equipped bathroom... more

We had a wonderful 4 day stay at centrally located The Grapevine Hotel over Christmas. We had been apprehensive as the reviews here are quite mixed but we need not have worried. We were in Stow on the Wold to visit family who had rented a cottage for Christmas and although we had to buy into the entire Grapevine Christmas... more

The hotel is very well situated for exploring the shops & sites of Stow-on-the- Wold. The hotel is charming in the sense that it is a very typical Cotswold building. Our room (#2) was nice but is in need of updating. In particular the mattress was almost painful with springs that kept popping up at odd times and almost no... more

I frequently read the reviews on this site and find them to be dead on. Unfortunately that is not the case with the Grapevine. I called the hotel directly to book a room. After being assured that the room available was one that had been recently refurbished, I booked it for a Saturday night at the increased Saturday night only... more

The room was nice and cosy. Food was fantastic a little over priced. I would say that the hotel lacked ambience and the lounge area could do with being a little bigger. Ok as a base. Felt sorry for the barman on his own most of the time. more
