What a fantastic web site, has any one contacted trading standards yet???? If you love there web site this is not the hotel for you. Ok the hotel has a car park £5 per night extra, if you do use it make sure you come equipped with a compass as finding the car park is near impossible and finding the... more

We found the Dolphin no problem, little scrabbly car park in the back and a warm welcome at reception. Yes we had to pay £5 for parking but we knew about this in advance, their website is very clear and worth a visit before you go as it gives you a little history on the hotel and it's 'visitors'. We... more

If you've already booked make sure you get a refurbished room as the unfirbished ones are awful, and I can't even mention the art. Room 301 has plastic arms chained to the wall like some S&M wierdness and horrible dirty gloves stuck to the wall!!! It's the wierdest place I have ever stayed and would never have paid the £100... more

WOULD NOT RECCOMEND THIS HOTEL AT ALL Really basic, I had to move rooms as first one was horrible. Parking you need to pay for £5 a day. Nothing nice about the hotel, stains on the carpet in hall ways, really old lifts, rooms are hard to find and the place has 6 resident ghosts. Not good! more

booked a room for a saturday nights stay for £85 Inc Breakfast. great price for location. Plus £5 for Secured parking behind the hotel. Hotel was busy with limited staff around. ++The room was Terrible.++ Tiny - awful decor- shabby, worn out, badly finished. The "Art" was a 1980's decorated colourful Headboard. Laminate flooring, no furniture apart from the bed,... more

This is a really tough call ! I've had better stays and hotels and I've had a lot worse! The Dolphin has so much potential that under the current run of things is very much wasted. It's a great concept, the building has great potential both in it's style, and it's court yard area We only stayed for one night... more

The Dolphin Hotel is a beautiful building with so much potential but sadly it is unfulfilled. The decor of the rooms is supposed to be inspired by artists but frankly this just seemed a lame excuse to cut corners and cost: nasty laminate flooring; cheap, thrown together headboards; and poor quality attempts at art on the walls. In addition to... more

We stayed at the hotel as we were attending a fundraising event and got a great deal on a double room. We were then upgraded to an Exec double as it was our anniversary that week. Staff were exceptional and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Room was indeed basic but clean and different to the standard "chain" rooms that... more

I chose this hotel because as a disabled traveler ( visually impaired and with guide dog) I had received such a warm welcome on the telephone when enquiring and thoughtfulness immediately with “ we have a good ground floor room for you”. I also liked the idea of local artists painting the headboards of the rooms. It proved to be... more

What can I say- If it had been another hotel I would have said it was a dump in need of tlc but actually it was probably the most unusual hotel I've stayed in. The car park like the Hotel was a bit tired and you cant access it from the front of the hotel,it doesn't have a formal reception... more
