What a first class establishment. Sorry to have to leave this place of sanctuary and come back to the real world of cooking and dirty dishes. The owners are welcoming and very friendly. The food is delicious. The rooms are spotlessy clean and impecably attired, from the expensive matching bedding to the white fluffy bathrobes on the back of the... more

I am just home from my fifth visit to the Brandelhow B&B (arrived at their door weary at 11pm on a Friday night in April 2006, after a 7 hour car journey with an 8yr old, 6yr old and a 8mth old - go figure how much I needed a friendly face and a comfy bed!). I absolutely love it,... more

Myself and my colleagues, who are professional Veterinarians from all over Europe, regularly travel to work in the Penrith area. We have stayed at a number of guest houses, but the Brandelhow guest house stands alone for its high quality of service and standards. At every stay there is always a warm welcome with tea and cakes offered on arrival.... more

My job takes me all over the country staying in numerous hotels and B&Bs so I REALLY appreciated finding Brandelhow. The rooms were spotless, well presented and very generous in size. The bathroom was newly refurbished with excellent facilities which make a massive difference when you have had a long trip or a messy day out and want to relax... more

After a long journey we were greeted very warmly by the owners and offered a selection of cream or high tea which could be taken either in the dining room or on the patio. We opted for a simple one of tea and home made cakes, which were delicious. As one of our party is disabled, the owner helped with... more

My wife & I stayed overnight at this FIRST CLASS Guest House. It is a real 4 star B & B. It is far superior than the dreary motorway lodge rooms. The couple who own & run the guest house, give you such a lovely and friendly welcome with tea, coffee and plateful of delicious homebakes. The choice of breakfasts... more

After struggling to find accomodation for under £100 for the night in the Lakes I didn't have very high expectations for a place that only charges £60 per night. However the Brandelhow was suprisingly good. On arrival we were offered a pot of tea straightway and a selection of cakes arrived as well, which was very welcome on a cold... more

Brandelhow Guest House in Penrith: I stayed there in the spring and had a terrible time. The owners were rude and had considerable attitude towards my simple request for a gluten free meal (which they adverstised on their website as catered-for: the entire reason why I stayed there). I received a call on the house telephone for no longer than... more

In the interest of fairness, I am pleased to have the opportunity to respond to oxfordbelle. Firstly we are sorry that you left our establishment with such ill feeling, having spent 3 1/2 years upgrading this wonderful Victorian house and having received 1,000's of people into our home, welcomed warmly, catered for to the best of our ability, and fed...
