Well I guess good or bad reviews are reflective of a persons priorities and the top of my list is a clean room and a good hot breakfast, neither of which I had at Hillcrest. The bedroom was pleasantly furnished, but there was dust under the bed which obviously hadn't been cleaned for a while with small bits of paper... more

I stayed here on a cold but sunny November day and it made a great base for a day (and a night) in Whitby. A stones throw from Pannet Park and the museum and around 5-10 mins walk from the harbourside, the Hillcrest is a beautifully decorated guest house. I stayed in the Aisalby room, which was clean and bright,... more

You’ll struggle to find a decent looking B&B in England, especially round these parts - most look like the contents of a 1987 Laura Ashley sale have been chewed up and spewed all over the room. Hillcrest is that rare breed of tasteful décor, excellent service, and all important "value for money". We stayed in one of the cheaper double... more

The Hillcrest is convieniently situated a 5 minute walk from the lovely town centre of Whitby. Upon arrival we were given a warm welcome by the proprietor and shown to our room. The room was of a good size, very clean and decorated in a contemporary style. The bed was fabulous, just the right size and oh so comfy! The... more

I decided to take my two boys to Whitby for the weekend and I am so pleased we found this beautiful guest house. We were made very welcome by the owner who showed us to our room. The room was very pleasant with a well stocked hospitality tray and the breakfast was excellent. My eldest son had Whitby Kippers and... more

My partner and I have just returned from a weekend break in Whitby. Spacious contemporary room (Ruswarp), the bed was so comfy it was hard to leave, great shower, superb breakfast. The service we received was fantastic and I would highly recommend it to anybody looking for a stylish but comfortable place to stay. We were certainly made to feel... more

I stayed here with my wife for 2 nights in March. The weather was perfect, but the accommodation didn't match the weather. First the good points:- - breakfast very plentiful/tasty with a good choice. - off street parking [limited spaces though] - excellent modern power shower. - 10 mins stroll to see front [very steep hill though!] - clean/tidy bedrooms.... more

Whilst we appreciate the time people take to write comments, it would help if any problems could be discussed at the time of the visit. We would like to point out:- All rooms have king size beds. All guest rooms are double glazed. The Runswick Room, is approx 25m square, therefore quite a large room. All doors comply with fire...

What a refreshing change for a B+B/Guesthouse: a warm welcome, spacious contemporary room (Runswick), a bed so comfy it was hard to leave, great shower, superb breakfast. What more could you ask for? Treat yourself! more

We have just returned from a short break in Whitby, we returned to Hillcrest as we were really impressed on our last visit at the end of last year. The Guest House is tastefully decorated with excellent rooms all of high quality as we had a sneak preview of the rooms before the other guests arrived. The room was spotlessly... more
