We booked one night in this hotel with Active Hotels and got double B & B for only £65. Our room was rather small but as it was a value for money deal we were fine with that. The hotel is within a few minutes walk of The Minster and the centre of York. The hotel is "olde worlde" (the... more

This is a 300 year old coach house. The owner Julie is a fantastic person along with her manager Ati. Staff is very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Full English breakfast along with fruit, yogurts and cereal available every morning. Dinners are great and reasonable. Close to the York Minster and all the... more

Really great family run hotel. Nothing too much trouble - early breakfast etc. Fabulous position - only 5 mins walk to York Minster and the city walls, and on a beautiful quiet street called Marygate - lovely old buildings, next to the museum gardens and the river. Great atmosphere for such a small place. The bar had beers from all... more

Pluses: short walk to attractions, free parking available, friendly and accommodating staff, ample breakfast, reasonably priced and good dining. Minuses: very small room with no place to sit down or store luggage, too soft mattresses, room was hot, could hear voices and footfalls from room above. more

The reception staff actually seemed to be pleased that I was a guest.....and when I asked to have breakfast in my room - that wasn't a problem either. The biggest problem is... more

Stayed for 2 nights to celebrate husband's birthday & belated valentines. Had e-mailed hotel 4 days before to ask about price of champagne in room. Should of realised they not interested when no reply received. Very tired looking accommodation desperately in need of painting and new carpets etc. We were given a free upgrade to a Minster view room as... more

We had a very nice stay here while touring the UK on our honeymoon. The staff was super friendly and the room was nice and clean. We also enjoyed a nice English breakfast in the morning. It was easy to get to and in a terrific location to many sites. more

Very good location, restaurant was very good value, staff friendly and helpful. But the room was freezing. The central heating went off at 10pm, the temperature plummeted and the radiators did not come on in the mornings. The sight of my own breath in the morning reminded me of 1970s youth hostels. more
