My expierience of the hotel was ok. you get what you pay for I suppose. First of all on my journey down I had a phone call wanting to know when I would arrive..which was fair enough but then I got told that depending on what time I arrived there might not be anyone there to let us in. which... more

Due to booking late, I had the misfortune to stay at this 'hotel' during the May bank holiday weekend. The room was clearly one half of a much larger room, separated by a paper thin stud wall. The four poster bed was absurd (MFI rubbish, with no curtains). Burn marks in the carpet. No hot water. Room was dusty. Bed... more

I have stayed at this guest house on two occasions in the past (in different rooms), and was looking up their phone number in order to book up a future visit when i noticed some of the reviews left on this website. To be honest I couldnt believe what I saw. A friend booked this guest house for me on... more

This hotel is a complete carsey, do not stay there. The manger tried to charge us extra for making the room up (clean bedding and towels), the bathroom is like a cupboard and there's about 3inches of space from the toliet to the wall in front of you. The towels and bed line are stained and there is not cooked... more

My wife and I arrived on Friday evening late and were welcomed by the manageress, given the keys and told 'don't be shy if there's anything you want just knock on my door'. Went to the room and there were two small towels so I went down to ask for another one to be met with the response 'Why do... more

I booked a four poster bedroom (en-suite) for one night at the cost of £140 and the stay was very poor value for money - it should have been half the price! Four poster bed was just four sticks stuck to a normal bed and the drapes were pathetic. No glasses in room or towels, en-suite was tiny, shower dripped... more

I had two weeks leave from work and wanted to go somewhere different, so decided on York. I searched the internet high and low to find cheap accommodation close to the city centre. Very difficult, with some of the prices I may as well have been going abroad!! I came across Astley House and did some research before booking. I... more

I work and stay at hotels/B&Bs all over the country. This is quite definetely the worst hovel I have ever stayed in. After a hard days work and just wanting to retire, I went to bed and was awoken by an 'itching' sensation in the early hours of the morning. When I awoke, switched on the light and pulled back... more
