I booked on line arrived to meet my friend on 21/3/08.I noticed that the decor was old fashioned and the place needed a refurbishment considering the twin room was £85 i don't think it was hotel standard more like B&B, however it was just a room for the night on entering the room it was shabby with holes on the... more

Yes this hotel is in a great location. To bad they treat this hotel like an hourly paid type hotel. The nightclub underneath it did not allow for a restful sleep. This is Oxford, we expected noise from the street until and after bar time. But the noise and constant thumping from the club was to much at 3am. In... more

There were several problems including: owners promised to pick us up at train station whatever time we arrived, but when we called the owner told us he was alone at the hotel and couldn't pick us up, he told us the rate was a few pounds more than we had been quoted (though he backed down when I showed him... more

My wife and I recently stayed at the Victoria Hotel for three nights. Having read the earlier comments re unfriendly owner and shabby decoration, we were a little apprehensive (the more recent comments are positive, so we took our chances!). However, I'm glad to report that we had an excellent stay. The room was perfectly adequate (everything worked as expected... more

A wonderful old house right on Abingdon Road (St. Aldates Road turns into Abingdon Road as you go south from Oxford after crossing the Thames at Folly Bridge). Very close to nice trails and bridge across the Thames, the South Oxford Community Center and 10 minutes walk into the main part of Oxford. The room was quiet, very clean, and... more

Initial impressions upon arrival were quite good; the B&B looks very up together. Alarm bells should have started ringing when we were made to pay for the room before we had even seen it. Do not do this! Insist you see the room first. We asked for a smoking room and were, quite honestly, horrified. The room stank of damp... more

This hotel was so grim I booked myself out after one night! The manager was rude and made me pay for all the nights in advance, he said it was hotel policy - I wish I had checked the room first. The furniture looked as though it was retrieved from a dump and the whole room was grubby, smelt and... more

I booked a double room for one night on a Saturdday night. When i arrived at the hotel they had no recollection of my booking and was told that nothing had been made and that they were full. I had confirmed my booking by fax the day before and I had also requested a map and this was sent to... more

I would like to make some comments on the Victoria Hotel in Abingdon road Oxford (not to be confused with the Victoria House Hotel). We had booked a double and twin room for Saturday 17th June. The proprietor had told us that a twin room was unavailable and so he had put our daughters in a family room. When we... more
