We booked a Friday night here with just 24 hrs notice but got a deal at £99 for a basic queen room in the corrections halls (not connected to the main building). Even with the lovely online photos I wondered if we were going to get a gray, cold (even spooky) prison room but no, it was a bright, comfy... more

We are staunch lovers of the Mal range of hotels and it's such a shame that I have to write a negative review this time. We stayed for one night a few weeks ago in a lovely big room in the cell area and had dinner in the restaurant (has always been lovely before). We both made the mistake of... more

We had seen a report about this hotel, and thought it sounded really unusual, so decided to give it a try. The hotel has been converted from the prison that had been built within Oxford Castle, and was used as a prison until 1996. It must have been pretty grim when it was a prison, but is now extremely comfortable... more

I had booked one nights stay as a surprise for my wife's 30th Birthday. She had no idea we were going until the day i sprang it on her that she was being sentenced to spend a night in jail!!! Beware the parking issue - after driving around for about 30 minutes we found a car park just round the... more

I stayed in a superior double 'cell' room on 'A' wing for one night and had a lovely stay. The hotel was easier to find than I thought after reading the reviews on here. I just headed to New Road then kept looking to my right until I saw the hotel's entrance. The first impressions were excellent - lovely grounds,... more

We stayed in one of the junior suites for one night which cost £235. The room was excellent, very clean and nothing wrong with it except a faulty light stuck on the floor in the bathroom, which was great anyway, it had a double shower and a roll top bath. We were hoping that there were robes but were told... more

We stayed for one night a couple of weeks and I have to say, even though the cost of the rooms is a little on the pricy side, I think the experience is well worth it! We stayed in a standard room on the wing opposite the main building - small room, but very comfortable and very well furnished. We... more

I Have to be honest this is a very unique hotel and I loved it and feel for the place is almost spooky but very calm feel. Until you meet a member of staff who I felt are rude stuck up and very un welcoming you would get Im sure a better welcome in a real life running prison!!!! £160:00... more

Wow! This place is amazing! A real prison turned into a very good hotel, retaining many of the original characteristics, but adding comfort second to none. If you can afford it, stay here. It is expensive, but definitely worth going to for a special treat. Only critisism is that the website didn't give great directions. If you follow the brown... more

Sharp, upscale, and modern. Not at all what you'd expect out of a former Victorian prison! You walk in a very dark, very low ceiling foyer and wonder if some dark hairy guy is going to step out behind a post to clap the shackles on you.... but you just sit down with the friendly staff to check in. It's... more
