Highways House, built in 1874, is a 5 room (all ensuite) Guest House. We are ten minutes walk into the city centre (Roman Baths/Bath Abbey etc) and the return journey is a little uhill towards the end. We are on a main bus & cab route, and well away from the city centre noisy pubs and clubs that are so busy at weekends. We pride ourselves on our cleanliness and friendliness. more » « less

Room was very clean, as were all the fittings. Unfortunately at the time of the stay, there were workmen doing building work, so you could hear them unfortunately if you wanted to sleep in. Cleaning lady came into my room without knocking once, unfortunately. Wireless broadband is very good. Has a very nice sitting room with a great view, and... more

We had a lovely stay here and the breakfast is excellent. Really friendly, helpful and welcoming staff, great location, although you will have to walk up a hill heading home, but that isn’t a chore when walking off a huge dinner! Highways House itself was very comfortable and clean. Would definitely stay there again. more

Highways House hotel was fantastic. We stayed in the room which overlooks the front of the hotel - it was a huge room with an equally huge bathroom! Although the hotel was on a busy road the double glazing cut out all potential noise. Breakfast was lovely and at staggered times, so you were not waiting long for your food... more

We stayed a few days at the Highways House. Highways House is a little out of downtown Bath, but is an easy bus ride or a 10 minute walk uphill. Our room faced the back garden, and was quiet, and it had a tub. Judith was fantastic. She has a great personality and was able to orient us to good... more

They had a good breakfast is a very small room. Bathroom in Room 2 was VERY small, but had all the necessaries. Bed was supposed to be a king-size bed, but was a double!! Never saw the proprieter except on check-in. They didn't answer the call bells when pushed. more

My wife and I spent a night at Highways House during the second week of August. The lady of the house, Judith, is an absolute treat. She very willingly gave us a map and explained how to get downtown. She made sure to book us for breakfast - Excellent. The room was outstanding and the bed and shower were first... more

It was a bit of a shock on arrival to discover that since booking less than three weeks earlier the ownership had changed. The new owner works in London during the week, and the staff who used to cover the weekends are now responsible for running the guesthouse on weekdays. The hospitality tray was less generous than we have experienced... more

This is a great mid-budget option for staying in Bath. The owners were fantastic, the rooms are large and neat, and breakfast was brilliant. There's a bit of a walk up the hill to get there, but getting away from the crush of the main streets in town was welcome. Highly recommended. more

I only stayed here because Bristol was full apart from the dowdiest city centre hotels (of which it has a few); so, seeing as I was travelling by train, it was as easy to work in Bristol and stay in Bath. Lovely place and I'm sure I didn't get half as much out of it as I could if I'd... more
