The Old Waverley was an old fashioned hotel that could do with a refurbishment. It was in a fantastic location with easy access to all of Edinburgh. Our room was a basic double which was clean and ideal for just a weekend visit. The hotel has no parking but offers a discount at the near by NCP. Beware you have... more

This hotel is in a fantastic central location with some brilliant views of Princes Gardens and the Castle. However, if this sounds tempting, make sure you know what type of room you're getting. We booked through Air Miles, and there was no indication on either their website or the hotel's that we were being allocated an internal room. We ended... more

Me and my sister stayed at the Old Waverley last weekend and we were extremely satisfied. Can't help wondering why all the bad feedback - guess it all comes down to your attitude! We stayed at room #115, "one of our best rooms" as they said at reception, with a limited view to Princes St and Eburgh Castle. Sure enough,... more

This hotel was, all in all, a great disappointment. I wanted to move to another hotel but my wife didn't want to face the hassle of it. On the positive side the staff were very friendly and the hotel is well located. On the negative side, you have to climb stairs to reach reception (and there is only one inadequate... more

We just stayed at the Old Waverly a couple of days ago, for one night. We will be returning and staying for three nights at the end of our trip (we are currently in the Highlands). After reading the reviews on this board, I was worried and seriously considered cancelling and booking somewhere else. I am so glad we didn't... more

An absolutely appalling experience from beginning to its premature end. Unbelievably rude staff who were incompetent and useless. They cancelled my room after I informed them I would be arriving late. When I arrived they refused to let me have a room until after 2 pm, even when I explained the misunderstanding, as they repeatedly stated/lied I had cancelled the... more

I wouldn't have booked the Old Waverley if I'd read the reviews beforehand but as I already had a reservation and it was too late to cancel I approached the hotel with serious concerns. I needn't have worried, some of the reviews must be of a different hotel or written by staff from competing hotels wanting to queer the Old... more

Hving pre booked the Old Waverley I was a little worried after reading recent bad reviews of the hotel. However all was well. Our room was clean and comfortable, overlooking Princes Street with a good view of Edinburgh Castle. The bathroom was ok with a nice big bath. I have had a better breakfast but then I have had much... more

Hi Hen weekend! We stayed at the Old Waverley on Princes' Street in Edinburgh. The staff were very friendly... the hotel was gorgeous, and the food in the bar was excellent... the rooms were huge, and the bathroom was spacious... The location was great... so close to the shops... We started the night going to the standing order, this was... more

The moment I walked into this place I was suspect. It was dingy, had no lift, the carpets smelled and the rooms were outdated. On the flip side, the staff was extremely friendly. I don’t care how friendly the staff was, it does not make up for the fact that I am covered, head to toe, in flea/bed bug bites.... more
