I stayed here for two nights and enjoyed my stay. I was in a 4 person room and it was fine. i met a lot of other young travelers. they have free internet which is nice. you do have to pay for lockers but i had no problem leaving stuff in my room. its close to stephen's green, and about... more

Was staying in Dublin for a week for an academic conference; spent my first night in one of the 4 bed dorms (on the top bunk, which was very wobbly and had no bars on the open side to stop me falling out) and the rest of the week in a single room, sharing the bathroom. Generally, the place could... more

Avalon House was very much a budget option for us as we were in Dublin for a gig and had already shelved out a fair old whack for airfares and tickets in this most expensive of Euro-capitals. I'd been a wee bit perturbed by some treviews which didn't paint our pending digs in the best of lights but we decided... more

Booked 2 beds in a 12 bed dorm, and upon arrival was given two beds. I paid and signed for the beds. We went to the beds, and they were messy and someone's stuff was on them. The clerks said the beds were actually already booked. Then they tried to give me other beds which were in a worse location,... more

Having stayed in many hostels in Europe, I felt that Avalon House was in keeping with the basic standards. Rooms were clean but cramped, bathroom clean but bumped my elbows on the shower walls everytime I tried to shower. It did seem expensive for a hostel, but I also did not look into hotel prices so perhaps it was far... more

We stayed for 1 night in a twin bedroom with shared facilities, on the top floor of the building. It took us forever to get there because the lifts were not working, and this is actually the 7th floor, as far as I can remember, so it was terrible to drag all your luggage for so long! Then, the room... more

I agree with most of the other people who hae reviewed staying at Avalon House. The rooms are SO tiny and extremely basic. The bathroom/toilet didnt have a lock on it so had to hope that noone walked in on you. The breakfast was average and was a long wait to get to the toaster. And the staff werent overly... more

I stayed at Avalon House this weekend gone and I have to say I was pretty disappointed in the place. I read good reviews which is why I feel the need to set the record straight, and their website makes it look fab...it's NOT! Rooms are fine - basic and cramped, but fine. I stayed on Level 2 and there... more

This hostel was central to all of Dublin and had a great vibe to it. I imagine it would be the perfect place to meet people from all over the globe if you were young and had time to do so (which I did not). As far as hostels go, this place is as good as any. more

I have stayed here 3 times first time was with a Hen party and was the first time I had ever stayed at a hostel. The experience was brilliant and changed my idea of what hostel were all about. I always expected dorms sharing rooms / bathrooms with strangers. Each time I stayed here I shared a room with three... more
