If you do want to stay here (the location is it's best asset) then whatever you do, do not accept the disgusting room 19 on the top floor. This hotel is a good choice for someone interested in a modestly priced hotel in a great location. Rooms aren't plush but more than adequate with private bath. Tiny elevator. Pleasant petit dejeuner in a room with paintings by a local artist. Wonderful pedestrian streets in Bordeaux and the hotel is central. more

Stayed 3 nights early October 2005, and the Acanthe has a wonderful location in the heart of Old Bordeaux. Great walking experience to shops, restaurants, and tram stations. Room itself was spartan but very clean. Condition of the room itself was acceptable but not great, with chipping paint, cheesy linoleum, and industrial grade carpet. Staff was reasonably helpful.
