Fab location - very central & reasonably priced. Lovely square behind the hotel - with restaraunts and bars. Photos on hotel's website are misleading - not as nice - needs a makeover. Therefore would not recommend to anyone who likes spending time in their rooms. However - it is very clean, staff are very nice & I would stay there... more

The Acanthe Hotel was great! We had three people in our party and stayed in room #1. The balcony was awesome and the room was very large. Staff was very friendly even with the language barrier. Would stay there again in a heart beat. Location was great and we were able to pretty much walk to all of the sights... more

This was the cheapest hotel we stayed at on our 6 week trip through Europe and was by no means the worst. We had a good sized room with an ensuite shower. Very basic standard and pretty dated but for the price we paid, we had nothing to complain about. The location is fantastic - half way between a tram... more

I stayed there during Easter holidays, with my wife and a couple of friends, with our children. We got 3 rooms in the top floor (including room 19 for 3 girls- from 12 to 14 years old). Location is very good close to the shopping area. There were many restaurants at walk distance. We travelled by car, and we parked... more

If you do want to stay here (the location is it's best asset) then whatever you do, do not accept the disgusting room 19 on the top floor. Firstly, even if you are only 2 people they charge an extra 10 - 12 euros because it's a twin not a double. Secondly, it has the following: it's dusty, it has... more

My sister and baby niece and I stayed at the Acanthe -- nice room, comfortable bed, kind proprietors (bilingual French/English...maybe other languages too?), and oh my goodness it was a good deal. Left us plenty of spending money to wander up the street to the many lovely pedestrian streets and do a little shopping, eating, people watching...highly recommended. It's not... more

This hotel is a good choice for someone interested in a modestly priced hotel in a great location. Rooms aren't plush but more than adequate with private bath. Tiny elevator. Pleasant petit dejeuner in a room with paintings by a local artist. Wonderful pedestrian streets in Bordeaux and the hotel is central. more

We (2 adults 1 teenager) stayed in the hotel in Jan 2006 for 2 nights. The hotel is small, very clean and convenient for walking around the town, and for accessing the tram and railway station. The rooms are quite basic but very clean. Breakfast is the usual continental breakfast of rolls, croissants, juice and coffee served in the breakfast... more

Stayed 3 nights early October 2005, and the Acanthe has a wonderful location in the heart of Old Bordeaux. Great walking experience to shops, restaurants, and tram stations. Room itself was spartan but very clean. Condition of the room itself was acceptable but not great, with chipping paint, cheesy linoleum, and industrial grade carpet. Staff was reasonably helpful. Good value... more

My boyfriend, my sister and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while touring the wine region and with breakfast for all three of us it cost 160 euros total. The location is great - less than a minutes walk from the tram stop. Take the C-line from the main train station and you're there. Its also a few... more
