Robert was the perfect host. As well as being an excellent chef he is also a very gifted artist. The restaurants are not great in this area so do arrange with Robert, before you arrive, to eat in and he will buy the food fresh that day and cook what you would like, provided he can get it! Do also... more

My husband & I liked here very much, including the room, the owners and also food. Both Robert & Eileen were wonderful! They were very nice & caring. Further, Robert was a great cook and artist. He tastefully decorated the place with his own artworks which my husband enjoyed it very much. Also, he made delicious dishes at very decent... more

We stayed 2 nights at this beautiful and quiet B&B in July 08. Our room on the first floor was spacious and the bathroom was clean and new. We chilled both evenings in the lounge and garden - all relaxing and most of the time had the palce to ourselves. Breakfast of yoghurt with fresh cherries and peaches was just... more

My husband and I and another couple recently spent two nights here midway through a fast-paced two weeks in France and Spain. Beautiful, very comfortable property out in the middle of nowhere---just what we needed at that point in our trip! The location is a little farther from the Medoc region than I had thought, but I really hadn't done... more

Had the pleasure of staying at The Blue Sturgeon for four nights last November. From our arrival to departure the whole experience was just perfect. The bedroom and bathroom were extremely comfortable and excitingly contemporary, the breakfasts were varied and of the highest quality. We retreated back to the house in the evenings and enjoyed a glass of wine in... more

Stayed a couple of nights in February in this very comfortable and tastefully appointed and decorated Chambre d'Hote. The hosts Rob & Eileen are extremely welcoming, creating a very homely atmosphere. They serve good food if required, offering excellent value. No hesitation in recommending this accomodation in this unspoilt area of France. We will definately be returning ! more

The Blue Sturgeon takes its name from the fact that the village where it is located, St Seurin d’Uzet, was the cradle of the French caviar industry. The house has been lovingly restored from an old wine store by the current owners (as at Aug 2007, but it is on the market so likely to change hands soon). It has... more

We were having a brief weekend trip to the area to find a property to buy and had booked ath the Blue sturgeon on the basis of previous reviews and word of mouth. We arrived late afternoon and were warmly welcomed by the owners and their daughter. The decor is delightful and the general standard of finish and attention to... more

We were welcomed to this hotel as we travelled through this region of France. This is a beautiful Hotel, excellent decor, service, surroundings, and position. I would recommend it to anyone travelling in the area. The facilities are very good, it had a relaxing atmosphere, nothing was too much trouble for the owners, we only had to ask. It is... more

Having recently returned from a two night stop we were delighted with the rooms, food and service provided. Having arrived late, with no notice, the owners whipped up a four course meal using ingredients they had to hand and bread & fruit tarts purchased from the local patisserie. All this complemented by good wine at reasonable prices. The breakfast was... more
