We stayed here for 1 night in September 2008 with our children and grandchildren. Our children had booked a family room which was somewhat disappointing. My 11 year old granddaughter described it as "dark and dingy". Our double room was clean but extremely small. WiFi was available but not free. At this price I felt this was penny pinching! The... more

My husband and I have recently returned from a 4 day stay in St. Malo. Choose this hotel having read several Tripadvisor reviews. We stayed in Room 453 (it was mentioned in several reviews) and it did not disappoint. It is located on the 4th floor with the most wonderful seaview, over the beach and the National Fort. It also... more

This hotel is in a wonderful location inside the old city walls. It is charming. The rooms were modern and the bathrooms are newly renovated. We felt it was particularly good value for the price. The only downside are the beds which are hard and uncomfortable. These can be endured for 1 or 2 nights but if you were staying... more

1) The restored rooms may be the management's delight, but are much less interesting than the unrestored rooms. But it is still a great place to stay and certainly has the right breakfast to set you up before you get on your boat. Dinner the night before won't disappoint, either - the room itself is a wonder, never mind the... more

Just returned from an enforced stay in St Malo due to bad weather. We headed straight for the Chateaubriand... having made it a regular stop in summertimes for champagne on the terrace. This was the first time we had actually stayed in the hotel . We were given room 453 with a fantastic sea view , huge bed , lovely... more

This charming hotel is in a perfect location just inside St Vincents gate, intramuros at St Malo. The staff were very friendly and spoke perfect english. We had a double and a triple room. The triple was large with an en-suite shower-room, the double was cosy with an en-suite bathroom. The shower head/sink tap combination was a bit tricky to... more

We stayed here for two nights in October. I have stayed several times in St Malo but this was the first time here. I always stay in the intra muros as I like being in the walls and love the feel of the town at night. They advertise a sea view and they are correct. I didn’t think it would... more

Having read the positive reviews on here we were really looking forward to our 4-night stay, and put the 2 stars down to a lack of a pool etc. It started badly when we arrived with our car and was told the hotel car park was full, despite booking a package ferry trip. We had upgraded to a 'comfort' room... more

Booked one night at the Chateaubriand after searching Tripadvisor. We normally stay at the Oceania but thought a change would be fun. Hotel is very centrally situated and has plenty of character, straight out of 'Allo, Allo'. There are restaurants galore around the hotel and it is certainly in a great location overlooking the sea and the city walls. We... more

Selected this hotel after reading other reviews and were not disappointed overall. We were 4 adults and one of the 2 rooms was significantly better than the other as it had better view. Worth trying for a room at the back rather than side of the hotel. Both rooms were very clean - recently completely refurbished with large very comfortable... more
