- Initially we were booked for a two day stay at L’Esperance. However our disappointment with the hotel was so big that we decided to leave earlier. The room we were sent was so small that did not allow to open two small pieces of luggage. When we asked for a larger room we were moved to their property across... more
The hotel is nice, with a beautiful bar and an amazing gastronimic restaurant our standard room was pretty small but with a large bathroom High quality of services more
We were on the 595 euros plan - included room, breakfast and dinner (light dinner one night, full dinner the second). We were put in the "Pres de Marguerite", their property across the road. The room was a bit tacky - white, pink and green with floral and fruit cutouts on the wall. It also came with its own can... more
After reading some of the other reviews here, I must conclude that I am easy to please. I didn't stay overnight here and therefore saw only the restaurant, but what I did experience was in my opinion a superb lunch served in a lovely setting by cordial and competent personnel. I found the furnishings, decor, artwork, tableware and garden view... more
We stayed here with another couple, (all French natives, except me) and we were all disappointed with both the hotel and the restaurant. Our room, in the mill house, was okay, but nothing special, with evidence of mice, and just one tiny fan to combat the considerable summer heat. The pool area is unattractive. They seem to be cutting corners... more
Marc Meneau's hotel and restaurant was our 11th hotel and sixth and last Relais & Chateaux establishment before the drive back to Calais and home. Expectations were very high . . . and inevitably disappointment cut very deeply. Let me explain why. First the room. It was No.28 in the Pre des Marguerites, across the road and through the car... more
Reliable and wonderful for a real gastronomic treat, L'Esperance fully deserves to have recovered its third Michelin star. Perfect service and a courteous and charming welcome from the elegant Madame Meneau. This is however more of a restaurant with (very comfortable if rather small) rooms than a luxury hotel. The conservatory dining room glitters at night with hundreds of candles.... more
I have limited experience of Michelin starred restaurants but I have enjoyed seven one star eatablishments over the last two years in France and England. L'Esperance was very disappointing. I saw previous reviews which said it was expensive but the prices were quite ridiculous! We have enjoyed more choice, more interesting combinations and dishes with more memorable tastes at less... more
We spent three days at the lovely Hotel Esperance near the old hill town of Vezerlay. We were so well looked after in delightful surroundings. The hotel has a lovely garden with pleasant places to sit and relax and there is a pool at the sister hotel accross the road. The restaurant was impressively well run without being stuffy and... more
