The restaurant got one star in the 2008 Michelin guidebook. But we learned that the chef who actually got the star left early in 2008! The new chef has no experience and we had a very disappointing dinner there: one of the most banal menu but at top prices. Very limited wine list; very old fashioned setting. If you want... more

Location: Located not too far from Amboise town center and Cheateau d’Amboise. However, one still has to drive to get to the center. Walking is possible-about 30 minutes or so. Property is located very discretely away from the main street but with sufficient signs showing to the Chateau. The location was a good base to visit other surrounding areas. Room/general:... more

We arrived late after driving from Paris, touring Fontainbleu. We stayed in the newer part per recommendation of trip advisor review. It was large, clean and nice. The most fantastic part was the dinner in the chateau restaurant. It's tiny and although it's advised to have reservations, we were lucky there was a table available. It's expensive, but worth every... more

We stayed at the Chateau de Pray for 3 nights at the end of May. We booked a room in the main manor but we did not like it because it was somewhat dark and dated. We requested to be moved to a different room, and they did the next day. The new room was in a newer building overlooking... more

This place is magical. We arrived on a golden evening, and received a warm reception. The chateau has been lovingly restored and maintained. The bedroom was very comfortable without compromising the original charm. The bathroom was sumptious with luxurious soaps and body lotions. The grounds were like stepping into an 18th century painting. Arrive early and leave late to enjoy... more

Our family of four spent three nights at the Chateau de Pray. The hotel is located 5 minutes from Amboise and is on a very quiet and tranquil side road. This is a very nice chateau overlooking expansive gardens which contain fruit trees, fruit plants, flower gardens and vegetable gardens - our kids had a great time picking fresh raspberries... more

we spent a couple of nights here in may 2008. we had a top floor turrett room. the room was very nicely decorated and the bathroom had a bath. one had to be careful of the roof in the bathroom though. we had dinner here one night and it was lovely. the grounds are very nice and there is a... more

As we booked our reservation late we were only able to stay one night but it sure was worth it !! Lovely staff and owners. Great location. An easy 5 to 10 min. drive to Amboise center. We made our children suffer through an "adult dinner" that night so that we could eat at the hotel restaurant and they were... more

We stayed at the Chateau de Pray in the Loire Valley at the end of May in 2007, and loved every minute of it. We had one of the rooms in the towers, and while it was small, it was nice, cozy, and well-decorated, with a comfortable bed, a thick down comforter, marble flooring in the bathroom, and white, fluffy... more

We wanted to see the Loire, decided Amboise was the perfect central location to visit Chenonceau, Cheverny & Chambord. Because of the reviews of the food, we decided to stay at the Chateau de Pray, about 3km east of Amboise proper. What's to say? It's 700 years old, it's an old Loire chateau renovated to modern standards with a fantastic... more
