I found this hotel just by walking around Trier a little while. The location is excellent. It's on a main street close to the Porta Negra, but it is set back from the street so I had no problem with traffic noise. On a getaway with my wife we found this hotel on arrival to Trier. Pleasant and friendly staff. Everywhere seemed within walking distance. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We found also that our bathroom was on the small side so if you don't like small or pokey bathrooms ask to see the room first before commiting. All in all a... more

Lovely hotel. We were on the 3rd floor, front, and the Porta Negra was visible from our windows!!! Clean, neat, good-sized room. Maid service left us little candies on our pillows everyday! Nice touch! We didn't take any meals at the hotel, although I understand the food is quite good. We took advantage of all the little cafes and restaurants... more

I just returned from a trip to Europe that included a stop in Trier, Germany which is in the beautiful Mosel river valley. I stayed at the Altstadt Hotel because the Romischer Kaiser was booked.
