Just returned from a short stay at this Parador - our fourth. Delightful, as always! more
We stayed at the parador during our honeymoon in Sept. 2007, and it was incredible! I booked a suite that had a king-sized "cama matrimonial" bed (it's important to ask for that in spain or they will give you two singles pushed together), a living room, and a private balcony with a breathtaking ocean view. We had a nice jacuzzi... more
We stayed for two nights and loved this hotel. The location is the best, just leave the car in the car park and wander the interesting narrow streets of Cadiz and enjoy the great café life. The breakfast was the best, a great smörgåsbord of fruit, meats and cheeses not to mention the omelet chef and of course yogurts and... more
This is one of our favourite hotels. We first stayed here in June 2005, and decided to return when the Parador at Arcos (qv) proved too much of a logistical challenge for someone still recovering from a broken leg. The Parador has a superb position at the end of the Cadiz peninsular, with delightful public gardens on one side and... more
The Parador was for us a great hotel in a convenient location for seeing the sites of the old city of Cadiz, as walking for us is enjoyable. Every morning after a very satisfying buffet breakfast we would walk through the streets of the old city seeing the sites and having some tasty local seafood for a late lunch. The... more
Called in for lunch and found the restaurant closed. Managed to get a snack ordered in the bar to eat on the terrace leading to the pool. Staff were miserable and unsmiling. No attempt to understand or communicate in English. My attempts at Spanish were not appreciated. The food delivered was only half of what I (thought I had) ordered.... more
Afetr reading previous reviews I approached this hotel with a certain degree of trepidation! However, on balance, I liked the parador; it was friendly, in a great location and provided a reasonable service. Some points though. Firstly the hotel fabric is rather brutalist (a picture in the foyer displays a far more interesting deco building that was knocked down to... more
Hotel is quite old and has been refurbished. The rooms are nice and big but the decor could really do with an upgrade, the rooms look rather tired now. We paid extra for a superior room, but wish we hadn't bothered, the view was over a park and you had to stretch to see the sea. Food is excellent here.... more
Desite the mixed reviews, we stayed at the Parador for two nights last month. The initial sight of the building wasn't too inspiring - like two blocks of flats - but we found the staff very helpful, efficient, polite and cheerful. Our room was a superior double which was comfortable, clean and well furnished. Good bathroom, shower, etc. although the... more
This parador was a huge let-down. It was modern, charmless, cheaply carpeted, and seemed to be run on post-war austerity lines. The pool was only open June -September, the bedrooms were so badly lit by flickering economy bulbs it was impossible to read at night, the restaurant food made no concessions to non-Spanish. They even seemed reluctant to fire up... more
