Hostal Alcapulco was a great place to stay. It is completely charming and the staff is warm and friendly. They were nice enough to speak English (probably because they couldn't stand our Spanish!) and helped us find good places for dinner. We had two rooms, one with a double bed and a single bed, and the other with 3 triple... more

We stayed there four nights last December. The location was great, close to subway, restaurants, shopping. We had a room overseeing a small square, if you planning to go in the summer it can be noisy but I still recommend you to get a room with a balcony. The owner, Javier was extremely helpfull. more

This is an amazing hostel. It is comparable to many hotels I have stayed in. My boyfriend and I stayed there for 4 nights. The location is perfect, walking distance to all attractions and many subway stops within a 5 minute walk. The staff was extremely helpful and went out of their way to answer questions & offer travel help.... more

Stayed there many times and can assure you that it is as good as ever, Vegeterian and Italian restaurant just over road or visit the best bargain restaurant in Madrid just around the corner, ask Javier for the name but ends in Rica. more

I support the positive comments of previous reviewers. Location is great, yards from a Metro station, minutes from the Plaza Major, and half an hour's walk from the major museums. The bar next door is a wonderful place for breakfast, evening tapas and watching Madrid life go on. The hostal is amall- only 7 bedrooms- and occasionally your fellow guests... more

Thanks to Rick Steves' Spain 2008 book for leading me to this great find! It was my first visit to Spain so I tried to read ahead about hostals. Hostal Acapulco is actually better than many of the hotels I've used in Europe (London and Paris included) in terms of location, price, facilities, and service. The rooms even use electronic... more

Hostel Acapulco is bang in the centre of Madrid, which is great because you're no further than 5 minutes from the funky gay area of Chuecha or Plaza Mayor, or the wonderful transvestite club Gula Gula. However, it's not so great when a spontaneous party outside your window wakes you up at 5am, especially when the soundtrack comprises moronically thumped... more

Great, cheap, clean, safe Family Hostal right in the middle of everything. Ana, who ran the front desk was so wonderful, a little shy at first. Found my lost bag at the airport and even rang the airport at home before she came to work and organised its safe arrival without me asking!!! The night guy, called by my children... more

This property offers basic but very clean and comfortable accommodations. The staff is super helpful and the location is absolutely perfect, being very central. The room was spacious, the bathrooms extremely clean and though the beds were small they were very comfortable. I don't know how anyone could complain about this hotel for the price. I particularly liked having the... more
