The Excelsior Vittoria is one of the oldest hotels in Sorrento, and still probably the best. Its situation atop the cliff above the port is ideal, its location next to the old-town and pedestrian area convenient, and its walled gardens make it an oasis of peace and calm in the midst of a very busy resort. We stayed there in... more

Stayed for 7 nights at the E V. Visited Sorrento 10 years ago and stayed at the Hilton Sorrento Palace which is a good, family friendly hotel, but promised myself if i ever came back i wanted to stay at the EV and i was not disappointed. This hotel is the best in Sorrento, best location, best views. We were... more

My mum, sister and I stayed at the Excelsior from 5 - 9 Aug 2008. Still glowing from the great tan I got I have to write this review to urge people to go there. We went as a really special holiday to celebrate my Mum's 50th birthday. The holiday had great sentimental value as she used to visit the... more

This is a fantastic property. The location is ideal, views from rooms are great. The hotel entrance is in the main square in Sorrento and the gardens are absolutely gorgeous. The garden made walking in and out of the hotel was a real pleasure every time. We stayed in one of the suites, it was spacious and the room vas... more

Stayed for 2 weeks on honeymoon so obviously we wanted everything to be perfect and overall this hotel delivered for us. Some specific comments: Image: it's generally regarded as the best and looks the best hotel in Sorrento. If you don't stay here you'll feel a pang of envy as you walk past it in the main square. Outdoors: Gardens... more

My wife and I have just returned from Sorrento where we stayed in the wonderful Excelsior Vittoria for 3 nights. We booked the stay direct with the hotel by email and telephone. The response to questions was quick and helpful. We had to amend our booking on more than one occasion and this was handled without any problem. The hotel... more

We stayed for one week in mid-May and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is expensive, after all it is 5 star, but the service, quality, etc are top-notch. We were half-board and highly recommend their Bosquet restaurant, fabulous food and outstandingly good service, with a smile. Also very good wine list. Our very comfortable and attractive room had a sea-view which... more

It is expensive. But it is a proper 5 star hotel (we have stayed in many (too many) of the elegant hotels of world chain, and this holds is own very well. Often large old hotels can seem a bit tired, or have indifferent service. Neither was case here, with good service and very well maintained rooms and public areas.... more

We stayed three nights in a small suite. We didn't have a bay view, but our rooms were huge and very well appointed, and the views of the gardens and the town center from our rooms were very pleasant. This is a very grand hotel and we had a lovely time. The location could not have been more perfect. I... more

This stately and historic old hotel looks fantastic when you check in. But if you don't get a room overlooking the bay, you'll be stuck in a closet-style room with lousy amenities. I got one of the lousy rooms. Small, ill-lighted, cramped bathroom. This is one of those old "grand luxe" hotels which are no longer up to modern standards,... more
