I have just returned from a spectacular 3 night stay at Hotel Locarno in Rome. Our room was spotless and comfortable, which is exactly what you need after a busy day walking around the city. Included in the price is a very filling buffet breakfast (served in the courtyard) and they also have an excellent lunch menu which is very... more
We recently stayed at the hotel for three nights and I can honestly say that the property leaves a lot to be desired. I've stayed at the Hotel Locarno twice in the past five years and generally had a good stay. The hotel itself is beautiful, if a little worn, but the rooftop terrace and the courtyard are lovely. The... more
Who would have thought it - another rip-off Italian hotel? I should have realised when I viewed their pathetic website that this hotel would not meet our needs. Where to start? I asked them to make sure that we could have a bed in our room for our 6-year-old son - check-in denied all knowledge of this, to the point... more
Hotel Locarno's lovely outside breakfast area and classic old reception are the best it has to offer. For the price (Eur 270), the rooms are badly in need of a refurbishment. Upon returning home, we discovered that our credit card had been charged on check in and on check out - ie double charged. This was raised with the hotel... more
You can walk to Vatican City and most historical attractions from this hotel. We got to see a giant tour bus try to make the turn and about 6 guys jumped out to move a car out of the way. Yes...they lifted the car OUT of the way of the bus. What a fun sight! Very comfortable, great views and... more
We took our first trip alone since having a child, in celebration of our tenth anniversary here. Locarno was a lovely hotel, but we did complain about our room. Our first room was nice, a deluxe room - I think we paid top price for it. But there was a lingering smell from the toilet that I couldn't get past,... more
I spent 3 wonderful days at the Hotel Locarno at the end of April 2008. It was recommended to me by a friend and loved the old Italian charm and charisma. It is located in a quiet street in the centre of Rome and although all the modern facilities were there (safe, television, mini-bar, hairdryer, telephone, internet access etc), I... more
I have just come home from Rome and four nights at the Hotel Locarno. The only good thing was its location and the breakfast. I found the hotel terribly shabby and rundown .The rooms (I saw 2) were dark and tiny with small, short and hard beds. The closet was so small that the hangers didn't fit and the clothes... more
We heard about this hotel in just about every travel book we looked into. It was perfect! We spent our anniversary in Rome in October. We stayed 6 nights at the Hotel Locarno and only wish we could go back. First of all, Rome is just wonderful in October. It was actually a bit too warm........84 everyday. No rain! Lots... more
