I've stayed in lots of hotels in Basel, and the Locanda is by far the best for me. It is always spotlessly clean, there is never any traffic noise so very easy to sleep, and the location very close to Messeplatz is excellent. The Hotel Locanda is not super fancy. It isn't a luxury hotel and it doesn't offer spas and saunas. What it is, is clean, handy to town, and pretty reasonably priced.
