The ALBION is without doubt the best hotel in Ypres [Ieper]. I run a battlefield tour business and go to Ypres regularly - in the past to the REGINA which has an enviable location opposite the Cloth Hall but in terms of space, welcome, public rooms and cleanliness there is no comparison. The ALBION has 4 cleaners for 23 rooms.... more

Stayed at the Albion in April - happened to be Anzac day. Hotel was in a great location - easy to walk to the square, the Menin Gate and to leave the town to visit the area. Room was spacious and bar and breakfast area was fantastic. Christiane was a great hostess and we look forward to going back someday. more

We arrived in Ypres late in the afternoon after a harrowing trip through builtup areas of Belgium and France (road signs not compatible with new Michelin Map). We had not booked ahead. We found ourselves at another hotel which was full. The Albion was recommended, we found it easily and were thrilled with it. Christiane was an elegant and gracious... more

I have been staying in Ieper on a regular basis (2-3 times per year) for around 15 years. I have stayed in most ot the hotels there but this one is by far the best so far. The couple that run it are very hospitable and the breakfast buffet is superb. The library of Great War books is a great... more

We were a party of six who stayed in the Albion Hotel for three nights. The hotel is in an excellent location close to the Market Square and just around the corner fom the Menin Gate. It is a perfect base for visiting the battlefields that ring Ieper. The staff were extremely friendly and tried to help in every way.... more

This was my second stay at the Albion. On each occasion I've arrived late, and this has not been a problem. The rooms have sufficient space, are very clean and are well appointed. Breakfast fine. Standard of service is impeccable. Central location is a great help. Ypres as an area is both fascinating and very moving; 4 of my uncles... more

Located in a pleasant quiet street a very short stroll from the Menin Gate and the Gros Markt square. Public areas are very smart indeed. I had a large room with very comfortable very large double bed, and superb bathroom. Buffet breakfast fine with good quality items. Staff very friendly informative and helpful. Room curtains let in a bit too... more

Me and my mum stayed at this hotel on the 27th and 28th March, the main purpose of our trip was to locate my great grandfathers grave. We arrived at the hotel and was greeted in a very warm and friendly way, the staff made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was tastefully decorated... more

Having read previous reviews, the Albion Hotel did not live upto expectations. I stayed one night on Tuesday 25 March 2008. The hotel is in a side street off the main square and shares the same road as the Novotel. It occupies a corner site. Front reception was a bit disappointing. A notice by telephone asks visitors to ring an... more
