The Metropole is what I'd call a "decent" hotel. Nothing specifically wrong with it, just not outstanding. It's in a very convenient location for sightseeing, but be aware that the square it sits on is surrounded by roadway, which means traffic at all times of day and night and the balcony doors if you're in a square-facing room like we... more

I stayed 3 nights in the Metropole in April 2007. Cost was 75EUR which was a good rate compared to other hotels I researched. I was traveling by myself and arrived in Lisbon without a hotel reservation. I booked the Metropole through the main tourist office. Being a single female, I felt very safe and really enjoyed the common bar... more

I spent 2 nights at the Metropole with two friends and it really did have location, location, location in its favour. It is situated on Rossio, the central square that you end up passing through on your way to most other sites. We had a triple room and both the room and bathroom were spacious. Our room looked out onto... more

We had a great time in Lisbon. After reading the reviews we took the 91 aerobus which is located outside arrivals, it took about 15-20 mins and drops you off right outside the hotel which is in Rossio square, its excellent only 3 euros each as well We got the bus back too which you can get if you cross... more

The most important feature of the hotel is it's location. It is in the middle of the city center, I think it's the most centrally located hotel in Lisbon. The hotel is in a nice, old building. The reception is on the first floor, which was a little bit strange for us. The rooms are beautiful, not this modern rooms... more

Having stayed in 'central' hotels in several European cities before, we didn't have high expectations for this place, but were very pleasantly surprised! For a bargain price (around 60 Euros per night) we were allocated a 'standard' room at the rear of the hotel, but found it to be extremely spacious with a fantastic bathroom, and very quiet. The location... more

We do agree that the location is great and the view is amazing but the rooms are really dated. There is a difference between period antiques and dated. The beds (we changed rooms) are the worse we stayed in and the bathrooms have no amenities at all. The carpets are in really bad shape. The staff is very helpful. We... more

Taxi from airport was a good idea depite 20 euro price - we might have searced a long time for the entrance to this hotel on the "Rossio" square. It's just a door next to a cheap pavement cafe - not very encouraging. Once inside, however, all is well. Reception is upstairs (there's a lift if you've a heavy bag)... more

The Hotel Metropole was a great experience if you are looking for a small European hotel. It had about 10 rooms on each of its 5 floors with the feel that you are staying in someone's guest house. Upon check in, the employees at the front desk were so nice, friendly and helped with anything that we needed. They helped... more

We spent just one night in Lisbon (a day trip from the Algarve) and the Metropole Hotel was perfect for us. Using the hotel as a base, we managed to 'do' a lot of central Lisbon, without becoming too tired! We parked our car in one of the underground carparks on the Avenida da Liberdade (Restauradures) and walked the short... more
