As we drove up the drive to see the entrance of the Blackwell Grange I had to admit it was very welcoming set amongst the greenery of the golf course etc. The reception and staff where also very professional whilst helpfull and pleasant. So why only give it a rating of 2 stars? Once we had been allocated the room... more

Stayed for a wedding in may 2008, the wedding itself went without a hitch and the hotel handled that efficiently... We were in a 1970's extension that is bolted onto the back of the older property.....The corridors to the rooms could maybe do with some freshening up, the doors to the rooms are a bit 1970's....The rooms themselves appear to... more

I attended a wedding of a friend on March 22nd at Blackwell Grange Hotel with my husband. What can i say, were do i start! The wedding and Hotel were fantastic. We arrived to a magician and a charactueer with canapes being served and champagne with pomegrante seeds and bluberries. The Hotel looked superb and the gardens even for this... more

I can understand that others may have poor experiences from this hotel, but you can only write how it was for you. First thing, it was great to go to an English hotel and be served by English people-no disrespect to foreigners. Reception areas, Especially real fire were lovely as was the area to have a cup of tea (Served... more

Great weather, lovely food, friendly staff who could ask for more? We celebrated our babies second birthday, with lots of swiming, played football and chases in the perfectly lawned gardens. Needed two rooms for our family, both of which were clean, lovely and comfortable. more

Stayed two days in this Hotel with family due to its close location to Croft Motor Circuit. Superior state rooms turned out to be in old part The rooms in new part are nicely furnished and in a different era to the so called Superior rooms in old part which are creepy and poorly furnished. Holes in curtain and bedcover.... more

My wife, 4 month old son and I spent a night at the Blackwell Grange as we had attended a wedding reception at the hotel that day. The hotel is very deceptive. The front of the hotel is an old attractive building. However, the rear of the hotel where 90% of the rooms are is an extension that looks like... more

My wife and I originate from Darlington & Durham and I have known the Blackwell Grange since it first opened in the early 70's as a top class hotel which even had the honour of being chosen to host a Governmental meeting to discuss peace in Northern Ireland. We now live in France and have stayed in the hotel on... more

I have stayed at this hotel several times now (albeit booked through work). I can honestly say there is little consistency (as you may read from the other reviews). I have stayed here 5 times in total. If you stay in extension of the building (the cheaper rooms) then the room will be very basic - and the decoration may... more

Dreadful dreadful dreadful No hot water plus plumber in late at night fixing a leak = bang bang bang at 11.30pm for an hour or so. Fire alarm at 3.30am, i only woke up at the end of it (I sleep heavy) to find everyone shuffling bleary eyed back to their rooms. Obviously they must have a really robust fire... more
