We stayed at the Chiltern as walk ins after our arrival in the UK. I was a student in Luton for 2 years and we stopped at the first place we found. As an American, I knew not to expect huge rooms, but was surprised that a family of 4 had to rent 2 rooms to accomodate us, rather than... more

Obnoxious and dim staff who are completely clueless and obstructive. Small, tatty, hot rooms that are seemingly infrequently cleaned...had to ask for sheets to be changed due to having more hair on the sheets than a barber's floor. Slow service in the bar and poor food. Plasma screen was fine but there was no sound for the football but the... more

Could be a nice hotel. Staff are quite friendly but rooms need updating and air conditioning would be beneficial. The front of the hotel is south facing and the rooms are sweltering even through the night. The night time traffic noise was also bad with the window open. Breakfast was fine. more

I chose this hotel on the basis of the price and location. The location is excellent, just beside the M1 motorway. The staff were very helpful and enthusiastic. The room was small-ish but the space was well used, lcd tv was a treat. We had dinner which was good quality and good value. The bed was fab as was the... more

A truly dreadful hotel, and not enjoyably so. From the moment I pulled up at the hotel I knew my lack of research was going to come back to haunt me. Why oh why did I book this hotel without checking Tripadvisor. Swallow hotels are well known, surely it can't be that bad. Maybe this will be one of those... more

I stayed at the Chiltern for 4 nights whilst on business in Luton. The hotel is located very near the M1 and extremely convenient. It's only about 2 miles from the centre of Luton and traffic en-route to the centre was not a problem in the mornings. Check-in on Sunday was fine, although I did have to move rooms as... more

It’s been nearly 10 years since I stayed at the Chiltern Hotel in Luton, and what a change..... for the better.(and under new management) The staff were fantastic, every one of them professional and pleasant, the food was outstanding (try the Thai fish cakes) – exciting new cuisine with an international flavour making a change on the usual bland UK... more

II stayed at the Chiltern in December; it was a speedy check in by a friendly receptionist. The room was spacious and had a work table and chair which was ideal as I had to work on my laptop. I used the free wireless internet access which was speedy. I found the best part of my stay was the food... more
