W e recently stayed at the belsfield for one night and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Ok parts of it may need abit of updating but on a hot sunny day there is no better view of the lake sipping a cold glass of wine on the verandah outside. This hotel has a prominent and beautiful setting in Bowness. It however fails dismally in presentation inside and out. The exterior is well overdue a paint 'job' and the interior is tired and sadly lacks the style and class which would have been evident in it's heyday. Stayed in room 12 - clear it had been newly refurbished with modern feel such as spot lights and plasma TV on the wall. Very clean. Food excellent and staff accomodating. This hotel is slightly shabby - it could do with a good lick of paint. However the views over the lake are amazing - make sure you ask for a lake view room - it's worth the upgrade price (our original room overlooked the air conditioning units!).
