I wanted to stay in Bakewell with somewhere with rooms with wireless internet. The website stated that all rooms boasted wireless internet and I booked it primarily on that basis. Alas this wasn't true of the courtyard rooms. I had to keep trekking over to the main hotel, across a very busy road, clutching my laptop! Then I had to... more

We have been coming to the Rutland every year for about five years. We really love the place, and have had nothing but good experiences there. We particularly enjoy having tea before the fire in the reception room -- and the conversations that result. The hotel does struggle with being a very old building, and the consequent limitations of space,... more

Not a bad place. Watch out for a twin room in the main house. The heating system was making a loud noise constantly from 6am. more

I stayed in Room 6 for 3 nights, as part of a pre-arranged Group booking. (see an earlier review of this particular room). The room was very poor and small. One wall behind headboard was always warm to the touch, and that part in the corner near the wardrobe was hot, Presumably a furnace or flue is behind. The room... more

We stayed at the Rutland Arms for one night as it was the venue for a wedding we went to and thought it would be convenient and a treat to spoil ourselves with a bit of luxury. As for £124 bed and breakfast you'd expect something special, right? Wrong. We were so disappointed with the room that if we had... more

Stayed at this hotel for one night when returning from main holiday. We wanted to finish off our holiday by staying in a nice Peak District village and Bakewell certainly fitted the bill. We could not decide between the Rutland and some of the smaller pubs and inns in the village and eventually opted for the Rutland. On first inspection... more

We have just spent 2 nights at The Rutland Arms and I can't help thinking about how I could have made better use of the money spent even though we booked late through laterooms.com and got it discounted. We had a 'superior' room. It had scaffolding directly outside the window & I feel that we should have been told this... more

I recently returned from a trip to the magnificent Peak District in the heartlands of England. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Rutland Arms Hotel in Bakewell. I lodged in a Courtyard room that I found to be small, but quite adequate for a single traveler. My room was very neat and clean and the little extras were quite... more

Stayed for 2 nights in a stable block room. Room was dated, worn out & in need of refurbishment. Also not clean, a layer of dust sat clearly visible on the dressing table & a drinking glass had lipstick on the rim. These rooms are overpriced for their condition and standard of cleanliness. The main hotel building was quite grand... more

My husband and I have just returned from a weekend at the Rutland Arms Hotel in Bakewell, and what an enjoyable stay it was too. Unfortunately we booked it only a few weeks ago and weren't able to get a double room, so booked a twin room instead, but we weren't disappointed. The Hotel is situated right in the centre... more
