The hotel is conveniently located just at the edge of town with only a short walk into Kenmare - ample parking. The rooms are large but could do with refurbishment but were clean and beds very comfortable. Breakfast was good and staff very friendly - serve very good tea! Is probably slightly overpriced considering amount of accommodation available but overall... more

Great location, top of the town. Less than a minute to the nearest pub. Disappointed with the much vaunted welcome, The football was on, Mary was away and the young girl who met us was not too sure of our booking. Rooms were not what I expected for the money. Quality of fittings & fixtures were suspect. Breakfast average, (but... more

Nice enough place, with friendly staff, but it's a little pricey compared to other B&Bs in the area. You can't beat the location as it's right in town, but it doesn't have the character of some B&Bs either. Good breakfast with more options than other places we stayed. more

Location was great. Just across the street from city center. Ring of Kerry is right there... Hostess was pleasant. Home was nice. Room was spacious, but ok. Bed not too comfortable. Room colors a little dingy. Highest price B&B we stayed at in our 10 day trip, but didn't rank as high as others. more

We just got back from a whirlwind trip of Ireland. We spent one night at the Hawthorne House and was mildy disappointed in our stay. After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor I was expecting much more quaint place. The location of the B&B is great, the room was clean and very plain - nothing special. This was the most... more

Had a great stay at Hawthorn House. Stayed in the lodge out back which was very spacious and private. Mary was a great hostess, the location is terrific and we had a very nice breakfast. Was an excellent base for touring the Ring of Kerry. Stopped in for a room for one night and ended up spending a second night... more

We stayed at the Hawthorn House for two nights in Oct. 2004 and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Mary O'Brien, the owner, is very hospitable, bubbly and entertaining, and will make you feel right at home from the moment you walk through the door! The wood-panelled rooms are spacious and cozy, but I'd suggest not staying in the two rooms... more

My wife and I spent one night at Hawthorne House in Kenmare. The owner, Mary O'Brien, was very welcoming and made excellent suggestions for restaurants. The B&B is centrally located, and serves an excellent breakfast. more
