This is an excellent choice for a stay in Canberra. The rooms were clean, tidy (and huge!) with a balcony, and the hotel was located around a beautiful garden. It takes you app. 10-15 min to walk to the centre, so the only reason not to stay here would be the location, if you're interested in a very central place. more

We wanted a hotel in the center of Canberra, and University House provided this in an affordable way. The room was basic, and the other aspects of the hotel were what we expected from a on-campus hotel. more

While University House is in pleasant and quiet surroundings, it is sadly outdated and lacking in facilities a modern traveller expects. We were not fortunate enough to be in what is described in other reviews as the 'better rooms'. We were not given the room we specified in the booking and found to our dismay that our room was not... more

I have stayed here before and always like it, but am writing this extra review to provide a few tips to make staying here even more enjoyable. First, ask for a suite on a high floor in the north wing. The suites in this wing have a much bigger balcony and nicer view than the others. Secondly, bring some insect... more

This is a great place to stay. We stayed in a queen suite and had a lovely view of the quadrangle. It is a very peaceful setting, the rooms are spacious and we were lucky to have a large balcony. It is nothing fancy - the rooms are dated but this just adds to the charm. The bed is comfortable,... more

We had a 4night stay in a suite consisting of double bedroom overlooking the leafy Quadrangle and a lounge with balcony with views of the playing fields and hills. It is a peaceful location with lovely gardens. Breakfast daily (included in an internet tariff) was a full hot buffet taken in Boffins Restaurant. There is a second licensed cafe for... more

I stayed at Uni House for one night, and as a base for seeing the city, it was okay. The rooms were spartan, but that's what you expect for only $60 a night! It was nice to have the library and free Internet access just down the hall, and wireless was only $5 a day. It was a bit of... more

Still with its original hand made solid timber furnishings and surrounding an exquisite large central mini park with huge beautiful trees and long fish pond, we found this treasure, solidly built in the 50s. A suite has a huge lounge/dining, 2 bedrooms, kitchen with all the basics and a verandah looking out over parkland. This is a unique and comfortable... more

The rooms have a certain old fashioned charm to it and are kept in good cleanliness. Yes it is within walking distance to Civic but it's a good 15-25 minutes depending how fast you walk, it's almost 2 km away I think. more

If you want to experience Universty accomodation, rather than big hotel feel, this is THE place in Canberra. Centrally located (walking distance to down-town), slightly old fashioned in culture, with a "Members only" style. Several places to eat, and extensive wine lists, bisro, and bottle shop on the premises. For a different experience in the National Capital. more
