Our stay at the gateway was part of a very cheap airline package. The hotel is situated on the south side of Cairns a fair way out of the city and a twenty dollar cab ride to get there. This is NOT a resort. It's a motel with a really cool pool and a LOT of vegitation on the property. My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights, we used the hotel as a base for exploring the Great Barrier Reef, Daintree and the general Cairns area. The resort was very nice. It was clean and well kept. The staff were helpful and spent time answering questions and giving advise on places to go to. The resturant was lovely with a relaxing atmosphere and the food was enjoyable. We enjoyed are stay and loved the pool area. more
