So tacky, all the trademarks of a hotel trying to be something it's not. Ridiculous fees for everything, horrible service (the people behind the desk won't even acknowledge that you're standing there), and cheesy decorations everywhere. The hotel is in a compound . Why did you come to Australia to be in a compound? Also, the food was awful. Go... more

We stayed here because our young adult tour began here. The staff were friendly and helpful, letting us keep our room after we joined the tour so we wouldn't have to pack up and move again. The pools were beautiful and quiet. Our room was wonderful, with a flat-screen tv, mini-fridge, energy-efficient light switches and a roomy closet. I would... more

My wife and I stayed at the Cairns Colonial Club for three nights during July of 2008. Our advice is to STAY AWAY if you can. There were several other hotels in the area that were much nicer than this one for the same price. One of the hotels our friends enjoyed was "The Lakes" which was completed in early... more

We only stayed at this hotel for two single nights at separate points during our month trip to Australia over Christmas and New Year 2007 / 2008. We used this hotel as our airport stopover in between connecting flights. I also stayed at this hotel for a few nights about 6 years ago as part of a Contiki tour and... more

We were a little worried having read some of the reviews but were pleasantly surprised by the excellent service and well equipped rooms at this resort. The only negative was the food in the main restaurant which was shocking and the Jardine restaurant was closed due to being out of season. That said there's a free shuttle bus into town... more

I stayed here on my own for four nights last year and have nothing but praise for everything I encountered. It's a little way out from the city but there is a regular free shuttle directly to the city centre. It's also a good base for exploring and overall is a very nice hotel which I would recommend for the... more

I spent only 2 nights at Cairns Colonial Club Resort. We decided to spend a long weekend away from home. (From Victoria). The resort is great. It has 3 pools. One which we spent most of our time at. It had what looked like a rock - water fall. As we swam next to it, we realised you could actually... more

We stayed at Cairns Colonial Club between 13th and 18th December 2007 as part of a round the world trip, yes the rooms are a bit dated but very, very clean and comfortable. We stayed in a studio as we have a 13 year old daughter who fell in love with this hotel, the staff are so friendly especially Glenn [concierge]... more

Not too much to say about this hotel as we only astayed here for one night, we had been in Port Douglas for 4 nights and came back down to Cairns purely because we had a very early flight out of Cairns airport. It's location was very handy for the airport, we had a hire car so didn't need the... more
