Fantastic Hotel in many ways - Except that it carters for new born mothers and their babies from local hospitals - a fine gesture indeed, BUT don't expect a sound nights sleep as the new born babies crying was heard all night on two nights on a recent stay by me and my family. Don't expect value for money at... more

Firstly, a disclaimer - I only paid for 1 night myself out of a 4 night stay (my employer paid the rest). I loved my stay in this hotel, and found almost every aspect of my room exceptional. The only cons are that there is no separate shower, which is a minor inconvenience but does set it apart in Aus,... more

5 star but the elevators actually took up to 5 minutes (timed)to arrive at your floor. No ice in room or floor;therefore the room service team also had to wait for the elevators.Small thing but very disappointing .Great restaurant;shower;bed;view and location more

Stayed at the Sofitel for 6 nights this week and was not blown away by the experience. I've stayed in Sydney and Brisbane Sofitel but Melbourne wasn't as good. Food from room service is poor (pizza which may have been McCain - inedible) and the staff are not overly helpful or attentive. On checking out and settling my bill I... more

What a treat to stay here. High tech room system was a joy to use, from the mood lighting to the plasma tv. The bed is amazing. The only way this hotel could improve is to have an individual shower instead of the shower over the bath. Service was fantastic and the location is very good. You'll enjoy your stay... more

We recently stayed here during the Australian Open tennis finals in January. We normally try to stay at the Grand Hyatt as a lot of the top tennis players stay there but unfortunately (or maybe fortunately due to substantial renovation work) it was booked out. The location of the Sofitel is great (it's hard to beat Collins St) and our... more

We have stayed in the Sofitel before and had been upgraded due to an earlier problem at another Accor hotel so had stayed in a corner king suite so I was a little concerned that the room would be disappointingly small but was pleasantly surprised. The large floor length windows with the view make the room spacious and bright and... more

I have stayed at the Sofitel Wentworth in Sydney a few times, and can now confidently say that the Sofitel Melbourne is so much better. (Not surprising, as Melbourne does most things better.) Great location, impressive foyer, lovely rooms with the furnishings and fittings being just that bit better than their Sydney cousin. Instead of a crummy little desk to... more

We stayed at the Sofitel in Melbourne for three nights recently, and it was pretty disappointing. The location is great, top end of Collins Street, close to shops, cafes, restaurants and the cinema. The reception area is lovely and the adjacent Sofi's lounge/cafe is glamorous and upmarket. The scented candles lit in this area in the evening was a lovely... more
