I stayed in an 8 share which was tiny and nowt room to do anything or put stuff, although a small cupboard was provided. Rooms were basic, painted walls, nothing fancy. Facilities were very good, large kitchen with plenty of fridges, shelves etc to store your food and cook meals. Also a restaurent type thing provided, standard issue grub, not... more

I have stayed at this hostel several times in the past and thought it okay but maybe a bit overpriced. The hostel does have many facilities and is generally clean -- but bring ear plugs, and request a room that doesn't face Howard Street. All rooms are prone to noise from the internal corridor (room, bathroom, stairwell and lift doors... more

We stayed in this hostel for 7 nights and must say that the experience wasn';t as bad as what I thought it would be as this was the first time I've stayed at a Youth Hostel. I and my husband stayed in a double room which is unshared on the 3rd floor. Very basic, grey walls, small desk and shared... more

I loved this hostel. Yes it is expensive but its more like a hotel than hostel. We had a double room which was of better standard than some hotels I stayed in. It's a little bit away from the city, but there is a tram stop minutes away which takes you into the city centre. There are shops & bars... more

29.5 $ for non YHA members for a 8 bed dorms... that's probably the most expensive hostel in Melbourne! If only it was in the heart of the CBD, it might explain this exagerated price, but it's actually quite far from everything (except from the Victoria markets, 8 minutes walk). Except this problem of price and distance, the YHA is... more

Rooms are clean and cosy. The best thing with this hostel is their rooftop from where you can see a panoramic view of down town Melbourne. Rooftop is divided into two areas, a "glassroom" with an electric fireplace and an outside deck area wit a gas grill. Hostel is centrally located and The Queen Victoria Market is just around the... more

I thought the hostel was fab! it was a bit of a walk to the cityy bit.. but easy to find! I hate it people writing rubbish about it.. It's a hostel you don't expect like 5* do you! The food was nice and cheap, there was internet access which was also very cheap... cheaper than going into many of... more

Expensive, a loooooooooooong way away from anywhere else and boasting the rudest receptionists I have ever come across. The beds are comfortable and the place is clean, but it isn't worth it. Good luck to you if you happen to want to know anything like which floor your room is on, where the kitchens are, or God forbid, where the... more

I had a great stay at Melbourne Metro YHA. It was just a bit out of the city but unlike the inner city hostels i was able to "retreat" to the hostel in the North Of Melbourne. It was handy having a in house travel desk as i could book all my tours and they also gave great local advice,... more

We stayed one night to see a show at the Crown. We stayed in an ensuite twin room. It was basically what you'd expect for $86 just a heartbeat out of Melbourne. Although the beds were comfy, the covers didn't look clean and had a couple of hairs on it. Just a note, the room doesn't have a fridge in... more
