Thank God for Ferntree Cottage! Toward the end of our month long trip to Australia/New Zealand, my wife developed pneumonia. Val and Geoff immediately got us in to see a physician and were told to stay in Rotorua for a few extra days. Thankfully, Val and Geoff had availability and were incredible hosts - Val “mothered” my wife by feeding... more

My sister and I visited Rotorua in August of this year. We had booked Ferntree Cottage from reviews on Trip Advisor and were not disappointed! The cottage is in a very nice neighborhood and only a stones throw from the Lake. The yard and gardens are lovely. Val and Geoff have gone to great lengths to make the Garden Room... more

As we are a small B & B, we do not have a business centre for guests. Sometimes our on line credit card payment system takes time to action ( 5-30 mins) and we therefore prefer cash payments. We are constantly looking at ways to improve our service to guests so have recently installed wireless internet.

Despite arriving rather later than planned and for one night only because of other travel commitments, we were warmly welcomed by Val and provided with all the information necessary to make the most of our short stay. She and Geoff kindly booked the Maori Cultural Evening for us and we enjoyed drinks and hors d'oeuvres with them both beforehand. As... more

We visited NZ recently and stayed in Rotorua for one night. We chose this accommodation based on the great reviews we had read previously on Tripadvisor. We had a lovely large room with patio doors that opened out onto the host's pretty garden. Very nice bathroom and the room was equipped with a fridge and hairdryer. Also, fresh milk in... more

Val and Geoff were very welcoming hosts for our 2 day stay at their B&B. Breakfasts were splendid, and they helped us plan our visit to Rotorua - they even called to make some reservations for us. The garden room is large and private and the home is in a quiet location right near the lake, close to town. more

Val and Geoff run a beautiful B&B. The room we stayed in was very confortable and spotless clean. We had our own private sitting area and a nice little patio and garden to sip a drink after dinner. Val gave us some great tips on what shows to see and where to book. By booking at the I-site we got... more

We chose to stay at Ferntree Cottage in Rotorua because of what previous reviewers had said about the absense of a sulphur smell and they were right. We stayed in the garden room for two nights and considered cancelling our following accommodation's stay as we liked it so much. It really was home from home and the hosts Val and... more

We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights at the Ferntree. The Garden Room was wonderful (as was the garden!), clean and private. Val and Geoff were very warm, generous and helpful with our stay. Val even made us a banana smoothie for breakfast since we didn't drink tea or coffee - a very special touch! The breakfasts overall were fantastic!! www.ferntreecottage.co.nz more

We stayed at Ferntree for 3 nights and had a lovely time with Val and Jeff, who were really friendly, welcoming amd helpful. Our garden room was large and well appointed, with all sorts of nice, well thought out extra touches. Breakfasts were amazing and nothing was too much trouble for them. The hot tub was the icing on the... more

Lovely B&B. Very friendly hosts and superb spread for breakfast. This was our last stop in NZ and really sent us on our way in style. Even used the hot-tub for a soak to unwind. Happy to recommend it to anyone. more
