Have just joined Trip Advisor (June 2008) and even though we visited this hotel two years ago we had to do this review to warn people off!!!! During our 6 week tour of New Zealand we had stayed in great , clean and very friendly hotels. However this hotel was by far and away the worst. For example: 1)it is difficult... more

First of all, all the bad reviews are just spot on, any glowing comments must have, in our opinion, been put on by either the owner or friends of his. We, like most people, got a lecture on how I had parked the car. We had driven for hours, got caught up in the one way system and were greeted... more

Stayed there for one night. On arrival we were greeted at the door by a very odd welcoming. We had parked on the road outside facing the wrong direction and were given a lecture by the proprietor about the New Zealand highway code (i.e. you should park in the direction of traffic), making us feel like we were back at... more

Sageand onion must have been in a different Guesthouse. I am a pilot working in the Middle East and travel regularly to Europe, Asia and Australasia. I stayed at several other places in Wellington before I found this one. Always been really spotlessly clean and I simply don't believe the smell of wee. I stay in this place everytime I... more

What a dump! It was dirty and smelled of wee. The proprietor lacked any people skills and alternated between being overly friendly to being downright rude. We couldn't bring ourselves to get into the bed so slept on top, fully clothed. It really spoilt our stay in this otherwise lovely city. more

Although this guesthouse was clean and tidy, and the breakfasts were fine etc, we found the proprietor was quite unusual in his treatment of guests. At times he could be overly friendly, but at other times he could be quite abrasive, bordering on rude! We left feeling quite uncomfortable with his manner towards us. Overall, a clean, convenient guesthouse, but... more

I stayed two nights at this lovely bed and breakfast which is walking distance to Wellington shops and Te Papa Museum. It was an incredible $50 per night for a lovely clean bed with crisp white sheets and clean towels. On my second night (one week later on my return journey) I did not arrive there until after midnight so... more

I cannot understand the recent glowing reviews of this place. It isn't that the rooms are outdated, that would be o.k. The room I was given was dirty and smelly. There was a clump of hair in the sink and the bathroom smelt as well. The proprietor seemed rather creepy to me and the more horrifying reviews for this guest... more
