This heritage building was constructed around 1927 and apparently converted from a gentleman's club to a hotel in 2000. The high ceilinged public area and billiard room evoke a less rushed, perhaps more gracious era. While quiet in room occupancy rates on the night we stayed, the hotel was a quiet and most comfortable place in which to spend a... more

We were booked in through Tablet Hotels and having arrived seen the peeling paint, thinly staffed operation, untidy, dusty and fusty property decided not to stay. So no, we haven't experienced the overnight. Frankly it didn't look or seem like it was really open for business. We should have checked trip advisor. First impressions count, and we ran away from... more

My husband and I were recently in Wellington for a wedding and thought it would be a nice idea to stay somewhere a little different and have a romantic weekend as well. We found the Wellesley perfect with its old worldy elegance. We were able to get up have a walk along the waterfront and enjoy Wellington within minutes of... more

I booked into this hotel on a business trip, to stay somewhere a bit different. I usually stay at the bigger hotels such as Intercon etc, where there is more staff and heaps off rooms. This is a more private place and has a little more style and is relatively quiet-some amazing art works and beautiful furniture in the rooms.... more

I arrived to a tired and shabby reception where the girl on the desk was on a personal phone call and couldn't be bothered dealing with me. After 5 minutes she simply said "what name?" After no assistance with my luggage and up a noisy and dirty ancient elevator, I got to my room which was nothing at all like... more

If you like a dingy dated hotel, albeit with good bathrooms, this is for you. Minimal staff at weekends ( although they do their best), some very small rooms, soft furnishings need replacing, decor is poor. Rooms have dated metal windows ( ? circa 1930) which don't close and appear to have not been cleaned externally for years. Nice modern... more

This review is very surprising to us. Having just 13 suites, we do not over staff like many hotels. Instead our managers and duty managers offer a very personalised, hosted experienced - getting drinks for guests, chatting with them etc. No level of service is comprised because of this. The hotel is certainly 'dated' - it's a beautiful heritage building...

I have never stayed in such a shabby hotel in my life. I am a corporate traveller and decided to try a new hotel in Wellington. Well, I was disspointed in every part of my stay. There is no hotel parking, the staff are miserable and the receptionist complained to me about the managing director and general manager! Not professional... more

The essence of great hotelling especially at the boutique end of the market is service. This hotel has none! I arrived at 10.00 pm on a cold rainy wintery night in July with the intention to stay several weeks. I had a lot of luggage. A friendly night service person greeted me, however the hotel had no baggage trolley and... more

After a lot of research, we concluded that this hotel was probably one of, if not the best in Wellington. The room was very nice and met all our expectations but the restaurant was very dissapointing and took the edge off our stay. Our first night's stay included a dinner package. It is quite clear that this hotel (at least... more

Very nice, old fashioned, but excellent 'club' like feel to a very unusual hotel. If you like the shiney brand new this is not for you. But if you like the quirky, stylish then give it it a try. There's only a few rooms but they're very nice. Like another writer the lifts are noisey but so what! The staff... more
