We stayed at the Red Roof Inn Gallery/Chinatown with our two teenage grandsons and found it to be adequate and affordable. It is an easy walk to the Capitol, White House and Smithsonian Museums. The staff there was pleasant, though not overly accomodating. When I asked if they could possibly print boarding passes for our flight home, the desk clerk... more

In the middle of China Town, Red Roof Inn is in a great location. Only a block walk to a metro. Plenty of restaurants in the area. The hotel itself is okay. The website talks about onsite free parking, but thats "under renovation". On the United.com website thru which we booked the hotel, it states the hotel has roll away... more

Desk staff was unimpressive when we checked in always busy and not helpful. No nice greeting Security lock on door was broken. Room was clean and comfortable. Lots of street noise on Saturday night. This hotel borders on a bad area, some vagrants and panhandlers, none that concerned me. Walking distance to many attractions. When checking bags at check out... more

After reading the reviews on this site, I was a bit aprehensive before heading to Washington for a 3 night stay with my boyfriend. However, upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised. Very close to the Metro station in China Town which was very handy, and discovered it was easily within walking distance to many of the DC tourist attractions. One... more

The Good: Great location, very close to the Metro. We were staying in DC for a long weekend of touristy stuff, and staying in town was terrific. Went back and forth from museums to hotel, which we wouldn't have done if we had stayed in Alexandria. The room was fine, not spacious (12X12?) but clean, with remodeled bathroom. A/C was... more

To be honest, I didn't have much expectations of the hotel after reading the reviews. I was pleasantly surprised with how huge the room actually is. I stayed in room 422 and had a nice view in the morning as the Washingtonians walk/drive by. The inn is just a block from Chinatown (the arch and the metro) and about a... more

Stayed in April for a convention at the WCC. Very close walking distance. In Chinatown. Two blocks from the Chinatown Metro station. Some ppl in our party got great rooms, very clean, no problem at all. Others had to change rooms twice due to being given dirty rooms. One woman in our group turned her bed down and found blood... more

I stayed here for 5 days in January. The neighborhood is filled with panhandlers and less than friendly folks. The building has no security besides your room door. Two of the nights I woke up to multiple squad cars below my window. The room was very dirty upon arrival, but the housecleaning staff did a good job cleaning things up... more

When we arrived at the front entrance, one of the two outer doors was operating. One of the two inner doors was operating. At the front desk, they asked us to step to the other end, because only one computer was working. One of the two elevators had an "Out of Order" sign. We soon discovered that the heat didn't... more

The hotel started on fire while we were staying there on December 19, 2007. There were flames coming out of a 7th floor window but the employees kept turning off the alarm! After 5+ fire trucks came and put out the fire the hotel moved us from our room that was badly damaged by the sprinklers and smoke into another... more
