I stayed here last night and I have to say, Kimpton continues to create great boutique hotels that leave you feeling refreshed and relaxed. The little touches were everywhere; nice, thick bath towels, comfy bathrobes in two sizes (one for men, one for women?) LARGE square bathroom with plenty of space, wine reception daily, great restaurant dining option, and most... more

We stayed here from April 19 - April 25th for 6 nights and I have to say it it deserves my 5 stars and praise. The room was allocated to us at Check in and it was done speedily and without any hitches. I was worried that by booking this room via Hotwire we would get a sub standard room.... more

My family stayed here for our recent vacation and loved every moment of it. I can't say enough about the staff. They were gracious, friendly, and worked quickly without ever seeming harried or rushed. The room was spectacularly large. Since we booked this hotel on Hotwire, we were expecting the traditional "discount" room that we've received at other chains. (ie,... more

I had not previously heard of the Kimpton chain of hotels, much less the Hotel Palomar before this trip. I found it while reviewing the list of favorite Washington DC hotels – it is currently listed as #4. A visit to their website convinced me to give it a try. – I’m glad I did. Before reserving a room, I... more

On the downside: Low ceilings, small room, slow elevators, very brown decor, and a lobby constantly FULL of various conference attendees. Also, a bar at the end of the block with pretty rough characters hanging around outside of it. On the upside: Gracious, friendly staff. I'm surprised this hotel is rated so highly on Trip Advisor. I wouldn't stay here... more

I think all of the previous reviews sum up the Palomar in D.C. It is definitely not a 5 star hotel(or even a high 4 star) but it is absolutely very nice and beats staying in a cookie cutter chain. It has a personality along with some charm and a staff that tries very hard. We checked in at 12:30... more

This hotel is a real winner! I was in DC for a biz. meeting but brought my wife for the weekend. We had a GREAT time! The concierge staff helped us find great restaurants and activities! All in all it was an excellent experience. This hotel is just a few blocks west of Du Pont Circle -- a lively, fun... more

I have never stayed in a Kimpton property so didn't really know what to expect. My wife and I were coming from a two night stay at The Inn at Perry Cabin so this offered a great contrast between ultra-traditional and ultra-contemporary. We arrived early around noon and were pleasantly surpised to find our room was ready. The Valet took... more

First visit to DC for many years; checked out hotel options and liked the reports on the Palomar. On the positive side the staff were very helpful and friendly, the bed very comfortable, the room was very clean, close to the Metro, free coffee/tea in the morning; what really disappointed us was the size of the room. We could barely... more

got a great deal on this hotel through Expedia -- would not have really considered it otherwise. It was a good location, in an active, cool neighborhood - It went beyond my expectations. After reading the reviews on this site, I was confident... but when my friends arrived before I did - they actually called to tell me what an... more
