Great atmosphere - Bad morals. The first thing that caught our attention was its great ambience. The hotel is a living museum and it does take you back to the colonial days. The second thing, however, was a note on the table of our room, "Thou Shalt Not Tempt" - that should have sent alarm bells ringing loudly and immediately.... more

I have just spent the night in the Victoria Falls Hotel. It feels disingenuous to criticise given the chaos in the country at the moment but this place is COMICALLY overpriced and pretty awful. It was clearly once a beautiful place and the location is fantastic but it isn't worth the money by any stretch of the imagination. Rooms are... more

We stayed at the Vic Falls Hotel the days leading up to the election. The hotel has seen its better days but it was very illustrative of Zimbabwe. You are able to see very clearly the granduer of the past and the potential of the location. I traveled with my 75 year old father, my wife, my 11 year old... more

Victoria Falls Hotel is beautiful. The gardens are well manicured, the buildings are beautiful, and the photos in the corridors attest to the past grandeur of this establishment. The private pathway to Vic Falls is quite useful and yes there are touts, but there are friendly and not so insistent, they're trying to make a living, you cannot be angry... more

We -- a middle-aged gay male couple -- stayed at the VFH on May 23rd for two nights before joining the southbound Rovos Rail trip to Pretoria. The location proved to be convenient not just for the Falls, but also because the Rovos Rail station is right in front of the hotel. The British government were warning against all but... more

Should be revoked one of the Leading Hotels of the World; maybe in 1970 when the last time they have refurbished it! Even the $30 for the English Tea service would have bene a rip-off IF the food was decent; instead if came wrapped in saran wrap and was a hard as the rocks along the Gorge. Every time I... more

I was in Vic Falls with a female friend from 9 April to 12 April and stayed at the Victoria Falls Hotel. Although we felt totally safe in the hotel, we hired the 'security guard' who was waiting by the entrance to the hotel's private path to the Falls. We were hassled by people trying to sell stuff both on... more

We were at the Victoria Falls Hotel at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe March 14th and 15th, 2008. The Hotel was wonderful. We did the river ride and the helicopter flight. The hotel provided us with the contacts for these activities. The Falls are awesome. A lot of people tried to talk us out of staying at the Victoria Falls Hotel but... more

This hotel is beautifully kept and has lovely views. The food is great and the staff professional albeit slightly unorganised. I recently stayed for 2 nights and had organised my wedding from abroad in advance. Regardless of paying in US dollars over a month earlier for our package when we asked for things that were included eg belgium chocolates &... more
