I visit Nepal about twice a year and Vaishali is my favourite place to stay. I have tried Hyatt and Radisson before, but there is nothing like Vaishali. Maybe is not perfect 5* or 4* standard, but is close to everything and most of all - service is just amazing. If you are looking for simple rooms (recommend to try... more

This was pre-arranged through a trekking company and I stayed 2 nights before and 2 nights afterwards. Its a 3 star rather than a 4 star place in my opinion and there are some issues - the shower was not that brilliant, the rooms could do with an upgrade and the power (like most of Thamel) cut out at about... more

We stayed there for 1 night in October and 2 nights in November 07. I'm not sure about the room rate as it was a group booking. Pro's: Close to great shopping and sight seeing. Decent sized rooms. The only way to be closer to Rum Doodles was to be in Rum Doodles. It's in the Thamel district which hasn't... more

good location and service, large mildly rundown room, fair central air conditioning, warm bath, small unheated pool, good free breakfast more

This is an Indian run hotel in a good location on the edge of Thamel's buzzing streets, and is cheap enough with friendly staff. Popular with pre- and post-trekking groups. The rooms are large and comfortable enough, but nothing special - could definitely do with updating, although I'm not sure what the competition is like in Kathmandu as I haven't... more

Good, convenient location. Nice, clean room but AC was not effective. Hotel gave a pedestal fan. Staff was polite. Room service was poor. Restaurant had same menu for breakfast for 21 days. Stayed for 21 days in April-May 2007 and stopped eating in the hotel after 10 days. Cannot be called 4-star hotel though it has a swimming pool. Price... more

Absolutely terrific location - right in the heart of the city's main tourist district with lots of good restaurants on the doorstep, a short walk to nearly anywhere in the city centre, yet set back from the street so a bit quieter than many other hotels in the area. Rooms were fine - nothing special, but fine - as were... more

I have stayed at Hotel Vaishali about 6 times. That was when I beleived it was the best hotel on offer in the immediate location (Thamel). (I now stay at the New Orleans Cafe Apartments which are fantastic and the same price). Just wanted to let other people know that I have never paid more than US$20-US$25 per night. Just... more

Located right in the center of the Thamel dining/shopping/exploring area in Kathmandu, the Hotel Vaishali is a comfortable (and surprisingly quiet!) little oasis in the midst of a fun and exciting, but noisy and slightly crazy city. For $50 / night we stayed in a "junior suite" that is probably larger than my house. The carpeting was a little tired,... more

This hotel is considered to be a 4 star, but I´d rather consider it a 2 star one. The room was clean and the staff very nice and polite. The mirror in the toilet didnt show any reflection at all and we only had hot water if we showered before our next door neighbours... The real price for this one... more
