Stayed here with my MBA cohort whilst consulting for local firms. The rooms are large and clean, but the place hasn't been updated in ten years so little bits are beginning to let down this five star (eg. My bed sagged so I kept rolling into the middle). I'd say in a first-world city this hotel would only be four... more

Average for it's class. Generally had trouble in getting advise from staff about local conditions. Difficulty in communicating as no one had good English. Generally staff were efficient but brusque. Found staff at Majestic and Sheraton warmer. more

As the title says, the best part about the Caravelle Hotel is the fact that you get a 4 star experience without the overly uptight service and stuffy atmosphere. We stayed at the Hotel, but walked over to the Park Hyatt, the Sheraton, and the Sofitel (down the way by the Zoo) and found the other three to be overly... more

Caravelle… defined as a little sailing ship… or small wicker boat… I think a small, worn-down, unkept, leaky wicker boat might be a better description of this dump. Sure, the reception area looks nice, but that’s basically all this place has. People are always in and out of the hotel hob-nobbing at its overpriced bars/restaurants. Think $10.50 for a bowl... more

I stayed at the Caravelle as part of a business trip. Overall the hotel is very nice and central, walking distance from most of the attractions - shopping, luxury shopping, paintings, sightseeing, restaurants etc. However, the USE200++ rate was not worth the room we got. Very quaint hotel with nice room service and massage centre. Be careful of their concierge... more

We stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of our stay in Vietnam. The hotel is in a great area and our room had wonderful views. Our tour was organised by Buffalo Tours who had much better rates than if we contacted the hotel directly. For a 5 star hotel, the price is good and the location was fantastic. more

We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of March. Can't really beat the location, right in the heart of the best shops/ restaurants etc and near other nice hotels if you want to try their bars etc. Everywhere including the rooms and public areas were clean and well presented. I would say the hotel met our needs rather... more

Unlike other restored hotels in Vietnam the Caravelle has absolutely no historical atmosphere, its lobby and rooms are of the typical anonymous big city hotel variety. However it is a great place to stay in terms of location, and you can see all the historic buildings out the window!! We had interconnecting rooms on the 18th floor facing the city... more

Perhaps I was spoilt after spending 2 weeks prior to our stay at the Caravelle in some very luxurious hotels in Hong Kong and Vietnam, however I was a little disappointed with this hotel. The location was fantastic, very central, within walking distance to some really nice restaurants and bars, and we had some nice views of Ho Chi Minh... more
