We stayed in the Intercontinental Muscat for 13 days in April/May 2008. After reading the reviews on this hotel I did not want to stay here but as I was accompanying my husband on a business trip and the company had selected this hotel we did not have a choice. We also stayed at the Shangri-la for our actual family... more

Although the Intercontinental is an older hotel vs. all the new ones being built, it is a very reliable choice. The hotel is still in very good shape. Their grounds are beautiful and since it is so centrally located, the hotel is actually a favorite sports club with the locals. Two nice swimming pools with lively scenes. A great selection... more

We booked a 5 night stay at the Intercon on the club level floors, The hotel is an ugly 1970's monster, the common areas are reasonably attractive though. The rooms are ok, fairly large, comfortable bed but nothing special, the bathroom felt a little dirty and old, the balcony is useless small dirty and nowhere to sit, no ashtray in... more

We travel extensively and stay frequently at Intercons so we have a basis of comparision to say this is absolutely the worst Intercon we have stayed at! Traveling for several weeks in the Middle East, we thought this would be a good side trip and selected this hotel because our original reservations were for the Intercon Al-Bustan which was closing... more

After a long drive from Dubai via Hatta, we arrived quite late in the afternoon only to find that our room was not ready for occupancy. Seeing that we were slightly annoyed by this, the Guest Relations Manager stepped and smoothed things over. The accommodation was very good, breakfast included in the room rate was more than adequate, and each... more

As mentioned in other review here, the old Intercon is really looking very worn around the edges, especially in the rooms. Now i undertsand that the hotel is 30-ish years old (if in doubt, have a look at the bathrooms, i would say unchanged since it was built) but as a 5 star upscale hotel managed by a supposedly leading... more

Stayed 4 nights in October 2007 for vacation. Rooms are very dated, especially the bathroom with cracked grouting around the tub, old style, nearly non functioning hair dryer,(request another from the front desk) and a medicine style cabinet. Our "mountain view" room was over A/C units and concrete slabs and the balcony had pealing paint. Brought our concerns to the... more

I only had an overnight stop in Muscat for business. The hotel seemed more geared to vacation travel than business travel and I felt out of place in the breakfast room next to all the people wearing swimwear. For business though, the Internet worked and check-in was seamless, and Priority points were earned. I could not get the heat to... more

We've just stayed here for six nights having escaped from the first major snow of a London winter. My wife & I needed a vacation with winter sun. Muscat provided exactly the right weather (27/18), sunshine all day and a fantastic beach (Al Qurum). The hotel is right on the beach, and also head great gardens all around with two... more

Hotel was first five star hotel in Oman, and its 1970's design is pretty obvious. Tired rooms, swimming pool with astro turf around it, plastic pink sofa outside room...definitely a hotel with no taste, but fine if you're transiting to somewhere else in Oman and don't want to pay the price of Chedi or Shangri La. Definitely crying out for... more
