As a gold SPG member, for 17 euros a night we were upgraded to the "Royal Club" which amounts to the concierge floor (good deal: free breakfast, happy hour, free refreshments, personal service, free basket of fruits, arabic sweets & water bottle daily in the room! etc) So, maybe my experience was skewed... Evereyone that we dealt with was friendly &... more
I had booked in for 5 nights as a grand finale to our honeymoon. Upon arrival I was already regretting it. The chaos of the lobby area and smell was not at all appealing or condusive to 5 star luxury - which it claims to be. Having booked a business deluxe room we did get taken upstairs to a private... more
Booked a club class room for 5 nights. The service was rude, club lounge small, cramped and dirty. Room was only average and was in need of renovation as is the whole place. Checked out after 1 night only - no-one was even bothered to ask us why! Moved to the Four Seasons next door which is FAR superior. more
I stayed there on January 16th as an alternative to the Cham Palace. It was not better. The room was old and in a dire need of renovation. There's decent wireless internet in the rooms ($20 for 24h, ~300-400 kbps). They have a shopping gallery, a nice lobby bar and a good house taxi service. The restaurants have good food and... more
This hotel is badly let down by rude service and totally uncaring management. The rooms are fine, but you need to make sure you're away from the road. Breakfast is pretty poor. Lobby is OK. The healthclub has been out of order for months and there is no provision to go elsewhere - and very unhelpful staff when asked. A... more
Official delegation to Damascus. An excellent business choice and a cheap for a five-star hotel. more
Stayed here twice in one week. Both stays were ok. Hotel is a bit outdated. Maintenance is ok, I had nothing to complain, but it looks old fashioned. Service was good and efficient. Location is good, close to many embassies and close to one of the main roads through Damascus. Safe is it everywhere in Syria, so also in the... more
