There are one or two things badly wrong with this hotel. The biggest problem was the bedroom. This looked impressive but had a dreadful musty smell, as did the rooms of our friends staying close by. The bottled water in the room bar was stated to be imported but was in fact just the local stuff at a truly ridiculous... more

Superb hotel! Very friendly staff, clean and nice decorated rooms, good shower and and a superb view! Breakfast and even the buffet at night were great. Especially if you have the roomrates by the internet it's a very good value! more

We stayed at the Kandawgyi Palace Hotel for our first two nights in Burma. As we arrived at night in the middle of a rain storm we had no idea of the spectacular view from the hotel of the Shwe Dogan Pagoda. As the lift stopped on the fourth floor and our room were on the fifth we were fairly... more

This hotel is located inside the Kandawgyi park near the paya shwedagon, we can see the paya from the patio !! The rooms are clean and nice. The garden and the pool are amazing, it's so peacefull to stay in the garden after a day in yangoon streets. The hotel's restaurant is good and if you want to eat Burma... more

We stayed here for two days as our first stop in Burma. The restaurant is OK, but tends to cater to non-Myanmar palates. The adjacent restaurant at the lake gets good ratings in the Lonely Planet, but not from us, we have had far better Burmese food. Rooms are spacious, bathrooms need a fix. The location is beautiful with a... more

Distinctly average. Room with view of Shwedagon not bad, but hotel a bit frayed around the edges. Huge crows invade the breakfast table if you eat on the terrace and leave the table unguarded while you go to the buffet. Little scams (stamps sold for twice the marked price; ludicrously expensive airport pickup) are more sad than irritating. And for... more

The Kandawagyi is a big hotel in a good location just outside the city center. It is generally a bit tired looking and worn down. Our room was a bit worn, dirty and the water had a brownish color. Staff was ok, nothing special. I wouldn't recommend this hotel, but would stay there if nothing else were available. Being near... more

We really enjoyed this property. We only had a standard room and it was quite a large room but averagely decorated. Also didn't get the king bed we requested as they only have 10 king bed rooms!! But the view of the Shwe Dagon from the 4th & 5th floor landings is outstanding. Breakfast was very good, also lovely pool... more

We found the hotel to be excellent in every regard. Our room was on the first floor, right on the lake, with its own little jetty. We woke up on our first morning to a misty dawn with the sounds of an ordination ceremony, the chorale from Beethoven's 9th symphony, and calisthenics from across the lake. Talk about exotic! One... more

After reading the other two reviews on this website I had to write that we had a wonderful stay here in October, 2004. We stayed in one of their "diplomat suites" which was HUGE and very nice -- with a marble bathroom to match. Yangon is a swelteringly hot city and we felt we'd chosen well by staying at the... more
