This hotel is classed as deluxe by Kuoni and is Lonely Planet’s authors choice as a “true luxury hotel, the best in Luxor, if not the whole of Egypt”. What a travesty against real deluxe hotels in Egypt such as the Four Seasons in Cairo and Sharm! The Al Moudira certainly looks good, from a distance. It is beautifully designed... more

My wife and I stayed for at the Al Moudira, because the Lonely Planet guide for Egypt said it was probably "the best hotel in Egypt", which is very far from the truth. - the a/c in the room is terrible, and even more when you are at 37°c; - the bed is old, and the sheets were even broken;... more

We still use the Al Moudira as a benchmark for hotels ... and hardly any has yet come close. more

I was so worried setting off for our two week holiday at Al Moudira as I had just read the previous review with all its talk of "bugs" I fully expected the place to be infested with cockroaches! Having come back and read it again I think some of this is good old confusion between American and British English. There... more

I stayed at Al Moudira with my husband and children for three nights while sightseeing in Luxor. Positives: 1. The architecture is amazing. You really feel you are in northern Africa or in the Middle East which I loved. You do not feel this at all at the Four Seasons, for example. 2. The peace and quiet. Awesome! 3. The... more

An oasis of calm in Luxor. If you like peace, the sound of running water, natural light in your room, friendly service and good food with an absence of high-speed, high-tech modernity, stay here. If not, then please look elsewhere and leave this beautiful hotel, designed along the lines of an ancient palace with space, courtyards and light, to those of... more

I'm going to start this with the "negative" aspect (if you want to call it a negative). I'm addressing it only because others have posted about the hotel being "too far away" from downtown. A trip to Egypt can be very rushed and full of long days of sightseeing. While sightseeing you are constantly being bombarded by vendors selling their... more

We were recommended to stay at Al Moudira for Xmas by our travel agent who said it was better than the Gazelle D'Or (in Morocco)! Like heck it was ... although overall we didn't have a problem with the hotel per se it just was not what it is sold as. This is not a 5 star boutique hotel by... more

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and absolutely loved it. Like other people have said the hotel is located on the West bank and is secluded in an area surrounded by farmland. If you wish to be near the hub of Luxor do not plan on staying here. This is a place for relaxation and serenity. As you... more

We stayed at the Al Moudira over the Christmas period, arriving late afternoon on Christmas eve. After a quick look around we changed for dinner, just expecting a normal evening. The evening was far from normal, it was spectacular! We were served drinks whilst listening to opers singers, then went in to dinner. An exceptional eight course meal was interupted... more
