I absolutely agree with all other reviews about the setting, architecture and views. The 'rooms' and communal areas are superbly designed and when we first arrived we were 'stunned'. We also really enjoyed the food and the staff were all very attentive and eager to please. However, there were many things that let it down and overall the managers (Ava,... more

We choose Kenya for our honeymoon, as we booked late, and it was the only place BA had First seat savailable. Kenya reputation being a place where safari minibuses built a traffic jam at each wild life encounter, we were a bit warry of where to stay. We found Shompole, and the design, as well as the concept of Masai... more

This place is heaven on earth. If you arrive by plane, you land on a barron strip , having come from the bustling Nariobi. On the hill just above the strip, you can just above spot a scattering of camoflauged suites, your home for the next few days or whatever it may be. A short drive by jeep takes you... more

Went to Shompole over the Easter Weekend. The place was amazing. The rooms with your private plunge pool and amazing views over the national park is something you have to experience. Food was ok. The lunch was amazing...salads and pastas...dinner was ok..not as good...we got to see rooms 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Rooms 3 and 4 were the... more

This place is not for someone who likes a standard hotel - if you have a bit of adventure - in the absolute lap of luxury - go for it 3 couples went to Shompole Mar 2-3 - the driving trip there from Nairobi was an adventure in itself - ( you can fly to the local airstrip if you... more

In summary, the property is very poorly run and there is a lack of attention to detail. The management has an air of invincibility and food is so-so. If you can put all of the above aside, it is architecturally beautiful and unique. Game drives were better than expected (we heard the game was bad in comparison to the other... more

Shompole was amazing! We spent 2 nights at the beginning of our 2 week safari. The lodge is beautiful, food was good and staff was very attentive without being intrusive. We saw a lot of game (were expecting little) and had a nice hike through a fig forest. Our children (10/12) enjoyed Shompole very much. It was an amazing experience.... more

Shompole Lodge was the first stop on our honeymoon and what a start! We stayed here for 4 nights which was just about right to fit in the right amount of relaxing and the game drives. The staff are wonderful - many from the local village - always helpful and friendly and really made us feel welcome. You don't see... more

This was the last of three lodges of our honeymoon having stayed first at Jock Lodge in Kruger, and then Beho Beho in the Selous, Tanzania. We stayed two nights in a standard room, and two up top in Little Shompole. The style of the lodge is unique in my experience - totally open/devoid of walls. As such, if you're... more
