Governors' Camp nestles on the banks of the Mara River in the heart of the most prolific game viewing area of the Masai Mara. One of only a handful of camps located within the Masai Mara Game Reserve the setting is magical. Half of the tents overlook the rolling grasslands of Africa, with views of elephant, zebra and gazelle; the rest are tucked away in the forest lining the banks of the Mara River. more » « less

My husband & I stayed here for five nights at the end of August 2008. I have stayed in tented camps in the Masai Mara before but Governor's far surpassed them. It manages to strike the right balance between providing an excellent level of comfort and still maintaining a proper camping atmosphere. The tents are really comfortable - I hate... more

We loved Amboseli Tortilis and Samburu Intrepids camps on our Kenya safari, but nothing prepared us for the number of animals we saw on The Mara at the Governor's Camp! We were met by 5 lions at the airstrip. What a start to our three night stay. It is hard to imagine 1.5 million wildebeest or 500,000 zebras and countless... more

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon in 2006. As with other reviewers this place is fantastic. Food, location, staff all brilliant. If you want the safari experience this is the place to stay more

I could write a one word review. Perfect. But that’s not going to be of much help if you’re planning on a visit. Flying in from Nairobi on increasingly smaller aircraft we were met at the landing strip by staff from the camp who drove us the short distance to our home for the next couple of days. The tent... more

Really exciting to be there. Sleeping in those wonderful tents with lack of modern pacilities, make you feel really deep inside the wonderful Masai Mara. more

Wonderful stay. Elephants outside tent, hippos in stream, bushbaby visits at night. "Tusker" is reasonably priced. Go, enjoy while you can. more

Governor's Camp has a reputation as being the best safari in the world - and it lives up to it. The staff are excellent. The food is wonderful. The accommodation is...well, I'm running out of superlatives. I absolutely, 100%, totally recommend Governor's Camp for anyone. It'll be the greatest holiday you ever take. more

We stayed at the Governors Camp for 3 days. The camp was first class along with the food and the staff. Do not be put off the accommodation being in tents these were like a hotel room with a fully plumbed bathroom We set off on safari at about at sunrise 6.00 am which was the best time of day... more

Stayed for 1 night at Governors Camp, on a 10 day safari in Kenya. Arrived at lunch one day, and left after breakfast the next day. (we were a bit sceptic at first- "tented safari- what about comfort, snakes, security and insects"? We should have stayed 2 or 3 nights!) The camp in itself is an experience, and especially "the... more
